How NOT to sell the Geegees !
A fantastic article Bob.
But also another nail in "Its a Rush's " coffin.
Wasn't anybody in that Organisation not aware of Dillon's and Munger's trip to Dubai.
This was fantastic Advertising and promotional material for the "Its a Rush" Campaign..
But now LOST !
By the way, the Lady in the photo with the article was NOT wearing an evening Dress.
She was just neat and tidy, and properly attired !
She is standing in a paddock...what did you expect high heels and stockings?

Only pissed of that every time a member says anything wrong , it's the sites fault.
Cheers

Bob, thank you for your apology. I humbly accept.
I will also concede that the statement, " I must say this ABC must be the most negative forum in the world." is OTT and accordingly I withdraw it. I did try to put the statement into context by pointing out that some contributors on this site, not all, are hell-bent on creating negative aspersions about racing in SA and continually sow negative seed without substantiation and redress. It is wearing me, for one, very thin.
Dave thank you for your kind offer to visit you at the big T on Sansui Summer Cup Day. I hope to be there and, if so , will make an effort to pop in for a drink...or two.
I must say though Dave, for what it's worth, I will never forget the rush I felt the first time I saw horses galloping in a race at Milnerton in the early seventies through my Grandfathers binoculars. Or the rush I got when I won R 20.00 (a living fortune to me at the time - the ante was six months worth of pocket money) backing Jamaican Music to win the July at the third time of asking. It hooked me for life.
So it's true; racing...it's a rush. Was for me anyway.
I wish the powers that be all the success that they can possibly muster with their campaign. I suggest we get in behind them and support them in anyway we can. I must add though...they would be well advised to allow us to do so.

Would the best campaign in the world convince anybody to stop using e-mails and go back to "snail mail" ??? .....not a chance, right?
This is what I liken the "its a rush campaign" to ....compared to whats on offer in terms of "competition" ....there simply is no chance of success.
If anybody believes that showing some black jocks driving taxis is going to bring in new players...then I believe the campaign drivers will get exactly what they deserve!
Racing in its current form needs to be majorly transformed and Re packaged in order to pose an attractive alternative...by whom though? ..as generally speaking racing(those in charge) doesn't seem to attract the best minds around....wonder why...
Adapt or die....natures law!!!!

Cape Town saw on Thursday in the TATLER a report on the Jockey Challenge - and Friday DIE SON lovely and in colour. These two smaller tabloids have a very big distribution - which is very effective in suburbs and read by many heads of family. This is important in terms of getting racing 'noticed' systematically - in a positive way. Couple this with social media and web reference points, brand ambassadors, and word of mouth = more people aware of racing and more people likely to visit and experience, learn and get hooked. Ad to this everyone that is already hooked (inside of the circle) keeping at it, taking themselves and encouraging their friends to go racing - supporting it and being a positive broadcaster.
The Sansui Summer Cup ad with the taxi's is enjoying a large viewership - there is another thread where the merits of this ad is debated - Sealegs you should really read it. BTW, the thread happened before the ad bumped up in viewership...
Elsewhere on the forum there are pics of Greyville night racing - looking good, with sizeable crowd etc. Hopefully the attendance is up from that 30% to even more!
Clanners - bring your friends, get excited about it, and share share share on social media. If the inside of the circle gets excited, the outside of the circle will notice, and they will come.
