do they "pull up horses" in KZN? I thought that was the sole domain of the WC (

Uhm, on that it looks like the Gold Cup, a portion of it will be run on the Polytrack.

Musselburgh and Kempton both tracks have a poly strip that goes over the grass, no problems

Just my 2 cents opinion.........................they could look to widen the home straight of the turf track as there is room available on the stands rail.
On the Poly, IMHO you will be seeing front-runners streaking in by steeple-chase margins.....................pacey types will relish the track, and in the hot and humid Durban Summers, we cross fingers and hope for the best.:S

Bookmakers will be moved to the old pub that is along the walk way from the parade ring to the course. Only 5 cubicles will be offered which went on tender. I hear it will cost around R400k per annum to be a course bookmaker. This area is looking great. Overall Greyville is coming along very nice and surely will be the most beautiful course.

sad to see the bookmakers ring go as it adds a lot of atmosphere to the racing experience and extremely sad to hear that bookmakers that have been standing on course for decades will no longer be allowed to stand on track.my bookmaker on course who I use when I come to Durban told me he has been standing oncourse for 37 years and from august will no longer be there ..he informs that only 4 bookmakers are allowed to stand at greyville which includes the gold circle bookmaker and only 2 allowed to stand at scotsville which includes the gold circle bookmaker...in my opinion this will only drive punters away from the course

Also see cross patches on some USA tracks too.....however is it not dangerous to have horses start to let down or pull up and do so across 2 completely different surfaces.....how far is this poly strip from the grass winning post..... as I see Jocks hanging on for dear life while pulling up.... as horses could go wrong or put a foot wrong when hitting this surface.....remember sudden pull ups or not letting down properly even on same surfaces have been the undoing of many horses.......Big City Life springs to mind..... put a foot wrong when he was gathered up to quickly when a horse came across him after the finish line in the Durban July..... how come has any one not expressed concern on this matter or are they afraid to rock the GC boat to prevent another Weise type of episode..... :S
