.....well the grass track seems to become a poly track in the pull up area....most should know that the angle and penetration that a horse hoof strikes turf and poly are different.....the joint rotation and action vary on the different surfaces so hitting a varied or different surface after being at full gallop is not safe at all....so to answer your question plenty has changed and that should be obvious by the picture you posted.....so how far from the grass winning post does the poly pull up start:S

Muthiman, the poly starts 90m from the finishing post. No jockey has complained as far as I know and are happy to go over it at racing pace for the Gold Cup.

Musselburgh has poly on an entire bend , no problems whatsoever and they race from soft ground into it

Craig is there and is probably correct re the pull up.
My top filly at the time, Waywest Goddess, was having her first run back in a plate race at Turffontein, after winning the Nursery and then going down a short head in the Allan Robertson. It had rained and the going was soft. The pull up at Turffontein was much heavier than the straight, as has been the case since the addition of the inner course, on wet days (in fact it is the Turff pull up which causes so many abandonments in the wet - I was on the committee during the last one).
Waywest Goddess had never had an unsound day in her life and duly won unextended. As she was pulling up, she dipped and stumbled. She chipped her knee, had the op and won only one more feature, before stud.
For that reason I would be very cautious of the Greyville pull up. Very cautious.
Time will tell...... arent these the same jocks who needed immodium because of slight drainage channels at Greyville, or the same jocks who often call for immodium when having to race over the crossing at Turff?
Time will tell. In the meantime, I will watch...and learn.....and buy shares in immodium.

LG, will there be trainers asking for Jocks to try and stop the horses before they hit the POLY? because imo that could cause for accidents

this track looks too tight, looks like we gonna have six horse fields or the poly won't last very long....

Give our jocks these conditions and we will not see racing ever.
Hopefully we wont see much incidents, but it does not end here.
