I'm on the last 2 as well (however looking at it again closely this morning, I think Erin may need another 10 points to be competitve - still Fradd probably not taking the ride for nothing); I went
R1: Royal Flying Corps
R7: Hillbrow
R8: Music Affair
R9: Erin

I also fancy LTK and RC, I'm going to take the treble with Lance in the first (14/1). Thought it was unlucky not to win on Summer Cup day

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Guess we see things a little differently - so at least some of us should end up on the winning side :
R1: One Man's Dream may need slighly further to show his best, but has run against some good sorts (finishing 2nd in front of Heart of a Lion and Judicial in his 2nd start) so is my slight preference ahead of Royal Flying Corps who made a very good local debut and should improve over 1160; imo Lance may need more ground and is no value at current odds
R2: Not a lot between Brainstorm and Spirada - both had run close in the wet, so they should both feature again; Sugaree has not run in the soft before and she may prefer more gorund, but she tries blinkers so more improvement possible; Sin Latigo ran her best race in the soft at this track, so could make the trifectas and quartets pay and on a line through All The Tens should hold Royal Bid who may improve in a new stable from a good draw
R3: Looks a 4 horse race between Catch a Thief - has run well in the soft and a very good run from a bad draw last time behind City of Athens (winner again next time), Yourmyeverything (runs as if she should prefer this trip), Crystal's Revenge (may have needed her local debut, but has Striker and the draw) and Summertime (may prefer firmer ground, but can't be ignored from pole position)
R4: Akii Bua had a very good debut (finished 3rd behind Buffalo Bill and One Man's Dream) and the betting support and the fact that Delpech has come up to ride should indicate that he is not going to need the run after a very long rest; the other interesting runner here is Turk's Turban who was well beaten by facile winner Rake's Chestnut, but was in front of Sarge in Cahrge who has put up some good efforts since. Quite a few others looking to take advantage should these 2 fluff their lines including Wellesley, Google It, Leeuloop Jet (wide draws for all 3 though) and Urgent Fury; also some money for the first timer Dhaamer
R5: Graduation Plate where based on his debut effort, Rake's Chestnut is better than rated imo and is going to take some beating; main danger looks to be Mercurial Brave, but he is suffering from some breathing issues, so can't be followed with confidence imo; not much at the weights between the inconsistent Money Doesn't Count, Antartic Call and Sugar and Shake (the last two mentioned could make the trifectas and quartets pay if they return to their best form)
R6: Open looking handicap; Taarish no value at current odds imo - 3yr old going over this type of ground for the first time having to give weight away to his elders :S in fact the runners that have proven themselves over the distance (Belmonte, Golden Ring and The Club King) are all offered at tempting odds of 12/1 or better :
; not much between those at the weights, but both Golden Ring and The Club King have won in soft conditions, so definite inclsions in everything imo; another who could suprise imo is the favorite's stable companion Global Strike - won his maiden in the soft and the blinkers now comes off - was rated 77 when last racing without them - today comes in at 64 plus another 5 points for the allowance - can't be totally ignored imo
R7: Another interesting handicap where the betting is also all wrong imo - ratings a bit confusing with the +6 and -6 points nonsense; however I think Hillbrow is much better than an 84 ( I have him at 90) and is very well in here - he finished less than 2 lengths behind Heart of a Lion who is rated somewhere in the 100's (too high imo - but still); another who could surprise imo at the weights is Campbell Black (MR 83 imo); for me Louis the King (although looking impressive when winning his last start) still has to prove that he is up to this class (I have him at MR 80 about on par with the filly Saint Angelique) - Master Archer (still without a jock :S) an unknown factor but could be anything; the others are not totally out of it, but have something to find at the weights imo - get the feeling I may be looking for somewhere to hide after this race :
R8: Fillies and mares handicap, so never easy; however I think that Not Sulking is ready to run another big race IF she gets the 1600 - if not I think it's wide open and bar London Dipper and Filly Bushwacker every runner have some sort of chance imo; for me the value is Music Affair - she ran just over 5 lengths behind Espumanti off level weights in her pinulatimate start and a repeat of that run is surely good enough to feature against these in a handicap
R9: By far the most difficult race on the card imo and there could be another 'Matilda's Love' lurking; would not want to be caught short here if I'm still running in the P6 and PA - even a filly like oscar's Behayer would not be a complete surprise should she win - has won in soft conditions over this distance and down a whole lot of points in MR
Sun still shining in Midrand - enjoy (tu)
