If the Top 20 ran tomorrow would probably be considered one of the weakest July's in History. ::o

Can't agree with this log - heavily biased towards the 3 yr olds (Gothic, WIld One :S) and discriminating against older horses with MR's well above 100 like Master Plan, Ice Machine, Run For It and Zambucca ::o

It will an absolute shame to SA's most esteemed race should the top 20 be allowed to race. Some one is smoking some hectic stuff

Is there anyone who could explain to us exactly what the selection criteria is for the 20 horses chosen for this prestigious race???
It's no wonder we have so many of our talented older horses looking for glory elsewhere...

This would be an absolute disgrace to South African racing.... But doesn't seem like the selection panel give a damn about that!!!

So again I ask... If there is anyone out there that understands how the 20 runners are selected for the July, please do explain.

:X

Graham Hawkins once said that qualifying horses require high MR's AND good form. Horses with high MR's but average form, and vice versa, will probably not qualify. A grade 1 victory does not necessarily qualify a horse. It is the opinion of the panel.

If that is true then does a horse like Wagner deserve his place??

And I think its criminal that SEAL is not in the top 20. Why should an opinion on "distance suited" bear any relevance? Or any opinion, just deal with facts. (The sprinter Nhlavini ran in the July of his day. I think unplaced but so what).
