Nothing wrong IMO in the UK a horse has run twice in same day over jumps, Buddy had the right idea would love a few trainers to follow suit, horses were bred to run not sit in stables

Here's one : PUTIN has raced 37 times in a year and has earned stakes in 20 of those starts. He has raced more often in one season than many SA horses run in their lives!!!

if it was so easy to run a horse as often as you guys say it is then why dont the top trainers do it like dekok tarry bass woodruff knemeyer etc and then throw in the greats of the past like millard syd laird etc...

Pirates u get bread and butter horses and bred and butter trainers if u have a good horse yes the races have to be carefully planned, in addition not suggesting all horse as I am sure many need rested between races but also sure others not .
Its difficult to generalize but there must be many horses that don't fall into the norm 4 weeks between races

any trainer will tell you that you have to fit in with the race program not the other way round..it is not always easy to find races all the time for your horses ....many people who have been in the industry for many decades keep on telling me that horses bred today are nowhere near as tough as they were many years ago and watching horses go to the start i can tell you that the majority of horses seem to have niggles physically and then there is the concern that up to 70 percent of horses bleed plus throw in the many injections horses have to endure like ahs and flu vaxinnes which also weaken horses.....it isnt as easy as many people on this site think it is to run them twice a week ...

We have had a few old posts on the subject over the years, trying to find the jumper that won 5 ? In 2 weeks ? But here were a few
> Arnaud - 154 runs - George Mazaham - Bloem Specialist - Can remember it winning a race in Newmarket Night meeting also
> Jump to Music - 147 runs - George Mazaham - Another Bloem Specialist
> Bad Influence - 143 runs - Been discussed - Trainer also won the July with Big Charles
> Hot to Spot - 137 runs - Been discussed - Loved Bloem as well - Caught the Jackpot with this horse winning the last leg at the Vaal
> Gold Louis - 132 runs - Buddy Maroun - Sire was Circle of Steel - Remember this stalwart cos i backed it quite a few times when it won. It won the last race on the card on one occasion paying about R 34 for a win on the Tote.

I am sure we could also find a few champs that broke down after just running a few races months apart?

Dave, another for the Buddy List, is Follow the Falcon, raced 116 times for 10 wins.... But agree every horse is different. If a horse takes its races well, race it. If it needs to be nursed, race it sparingly. Tend to agree with Pirates though that they certainly dont appear to be bred as tough as they used to be.
