Did he not ride that Land Lubber of a horse Edington in the one Summer Cup... As a laaiti that race still stands out to me.... Dont think Edington managed to kick on from that success...

Eddington was a huge striding relentless galloper and yes he did win but after that race got injured and never made a huge impact again

.....Strydom's best rides are the one's he says he can't win on because the X is bigger than the Y and he prefers Z.....like the time he put all the okes off Mentor in The Hawaii Stakes..... drifted to 12/1 and paid R20+ on the tote......and I climbed in like a soldier......

Not sure how many of you remember the ride on Special Preview against Caseys Honour (early 90';s methinks)?? 5/6 furlongs at Turffontein. Was there that day and although an exceptional horse it was only Piere's genius that got SP up that day.

.....I would cocur that his ride on JJ to beat Rocketman is one of his very best.....I would have had a bigger exotic pay out on Rocketman for QT Trifecta ect.....on that day, but I screamed for JJ.....
.....did the same in the Summercup when he was on Yard-arm and I had the P6 with a better payout on Wolf Whistle(actually MDK coupling).....but my pedigree reputation was with Yard Arm....one of the better finishes in racing where he did not get up but I made money......a ride equal to that of JJ in HK was in 1992 when he got up to win on Buffo's Best @7/1....I tipped this horse to a nubile blond 19yr old who was a race course 1st time in her life.....her old man was a big very punter and I used to "run" (place bets) for him when I was younger but he never wanted his kids to get involved.....after the race she really climbed into me as she had casually had stuck a gorilla on it.....I only bankered it in a small R32 jackpot.....my mother and her father intervened with a stern warning that we stay away from each other.....now many years later....a few ex-husbands and a few grown kids she still has that look in her eye that she wants to jump my bones....:

Brian Wiid once told me " when pierre rides for me and horses win lose or draw they come back to the stables and eat all their food." He is a master of the HORSE and that is why he gets a few extra lengths out of all horses he rides.
