Having followed this thread it seems like for ages now, a few questions BEGS to be answered
Who owns those horses and have they lost interest in them?
Do they not go to the stables to see how they work?
Why have they not complained?
Have they no love for their animals?
Mr Mc Donald?
Sure they were in his care, and he is as guilty as sin
But should he be castrated alone?
I think not!!!

The owner has been around for many years many.
If suddenly there is a problem what should Mac have done.
Senor Amigo won group1 races with John if i remember.
I really think that if i knew there was a problem i would have gone first and spoken to John and not be the hero who rattts on a man in the game 40 years.
Each to there own.
I hope the horses get fat John gets out of trouble and the Team Ratts think twice before hurting people..
A trainer at minerton not far away from the boxes of Mac says it was uncalled for and the horses were not as bad as made out to be.
Its politics and cheap shots.
As i said before if it was so bad why were horses not removed after inspection.
People take your blinkers off and you will see there is more to the story.

X( Finally, some rational thinking!!
Excellent questions.
The issue of non-payment in the racing industry is a huge problem and one that usually lies at the doors of owners. Sorry, but it's a fact (although Savasp and Zenyatta will argue that obviously someone will be carrying a personal grudge against those non-payers and we should all stop being so mean because they're all really really nice people!).
The NHA feel that owner / trainer financial arrangements are private unless a contract is drawn up.
Hands up which of you owners / trainers out there have contracts ? Yup, I thought so.
So, how do we go about regulating payments and making sure that everyone does their bit ?
Answers on a post card please......

Heard you were seen having lunch with Mac not long ago, sure if you knew his plight you would have paid for dinner

And 1 important thing about this topic ZSUZS i and others that support Mac have never ever said its ok for the horses to suffer.
What i say is the manner in which the situation was handeled is the lowest of low.
Ruin a mans life for the sake of his boxes.

Wow, OK Zenyatta, I totally give up.
I should simply have taken over the feeding of Mr Mac's horses. That would really have sorted out the problem.
Sorry. I am obviously a complete idiot.

You're sure in your heart and hope you're not wrong?
What do you have against Basil Marcus?

There are none so blind as those that won't see! Jeez guys it's like banging your head against a brickwall:S Like The Madji says just repetitive with no sign of The End. Hope Mr Mac pulls through and more importantly hope the horses recover - the argument of bad but not that bad is just farking crazy.

I also known Mac for years and I known he would not neglect his horses on purpose. Have seen his horses stabled at Kenilworth a few years ago and must admit some of them were not in prime condition then, but that was right under the noses of the stipes based a Kenilworth. Why the outcry now ? As for the disappearance of one horse ZSUZS can do a story by speaking to Mr Mark Holmes. On a few visits to Cape training centres I have seen many horses leaving on a box with him. Surely not to a spelling farm!

Re: Re: Cape Argus -John Mcdonald (td)

I was one of the posters that said John is a nice guy. It does not mean that I condone animals not being looked after. Z04 I think you know our stables record with the CHCU in taking in ourselves some nearly hopeless rehabilitation cases, donating food, sponsoring fund raisers etc. In our family we have 9 dogs and 2 cats and 10 of them were rescue cases so I think I can talk freely about these type of things having done something from the inside. As I said earlier, the horses were apparently not great but not so bad that they had to be confiscated. Why were they not confiscated? I would like to know a few things to help me understand this whole episode. Did the person who went to the SPCA/Stipes have a hidden agenda, did he try and help by as was asked earlier, by donating food/hay/bedding etc or did he want to put the boot in so he could get his stables. Secondly, why did John plead guilty and then appeal? It is difficult from up here as we/I have not seen the condition of the stables/horses.When we see pictures we will be able to give a more informed opinion and I think that stands for everyone posting here except Z04. There is lots of talk up here but no one actually knows. Most up here believe John is still a nice guy who might have done much wrong, but we will have to wait on the appeal to see. When I was at Kenilworth with him he could not have been more helpful and his horses were well looked after. Lets wait and see how the appeal goes.

ZSUZ i never ever said what you should do.
if you love the horses so much and they were starving what a good deed you could have done for the starving horses was to bring some food and discuss the problem with the sauce.
If after that you see no solution to problem then call in the horsecare unit.
If Mac did the worst thing in world horses were starving and he was charged and sent to jail you would feel great you did your job.
Wow i have diffrent feelings and challenge you and your feelings
ill donate 1000 rand to Johns horses will you match it.
And anyone else here want to chip in because we love the horses lets send Dave a message whats bank acc African bettting clan and anyone can put some money inn whatever amount and Dave can send a cheque.
all those who said he should seek help knows time to help a man in racing 40 years needs help.
Dave place bank account in new thread.
zsuz lets see colours know lets help the horses.
1000 rand i pledge .
