They certainly in top 5%

Very cool tiny island that backs their horses rather than living for stakes, are more dominant when buying from us. I always wondered how the economics of racing works there, they certainly pay the jocks very very well.

If you think about it , these horses will run every 3 weeks or so on the island, not so in SA, therefore there racing is actually stronger than our week to week stuff... ??

Solo Traveller was 3rd in last years Horse Chestnut

Top Seller was 3rd in the classic 2 years ago

Tales of Bravery would probably be the highest rated horse on show if turning up at Turffontein today

Some of these top horses are now owned by major bookmakers in Mauritius. The economics works great for them.

When you get offers of 150k for a 1 time winner who may win another 2 here it's a no brainer......the mauritians make that back and plenty more in 1 punt.....that's how they can pay so much for our used horses....punt ,punt and more punt!

Either we have forgotten how to set up the punt, or we have let our system degenerate to the point where it is no longer a game of skill. If the tote does not come up with a deep pocket bet soon, they may miss whatever opportunities they have left.

The tote forgets that the effect of inflation, where the real value of money can halve every 5 years or so, also makes their exotic bets easier and they too lose their value...or as my daughter says when I state the obvious, "Duh! Dad."

The proof is how both the PA and Jpt got resuscitated by 4 to 3 places and no couplings, making each much more difficult. You would think the P and GC would notice. They need a bit of passion to fire things up, every business needs to reinvent it self, especially ancient ones involved in gambling.
