We dont have much of a racing culture anymore! I was in Newcastle last week. The tote tellers are so rude. I could not get a atc on the turfie card because the teller and manager did not know how to do it. They have a sign 'only two verbal bets' the teller refused a 3rd bet even tho nobody was behind me.
Without the bookies racing would be finished. GC and Phumulela need to wake up and visit the totes and see how badly their product is being sold! I have no smpathy if all totes were to close!

When I was there 3 years ago I heard no 4 was a " Good thing ! ". Hot as hell and desperate for a gin I sent my wife to hit it on the tote and irritably told her to check the bloody ticket. Called the race and the " Good thing " wasn't persevered with in the straight and a 6/1 shot no 5 shit in. Wife came back after and the " idiot " had got it all wrong and put the lot on 5 ! Lol. Great track, people and times at Champ de Mars.

Triple tempo I had the same experience while travelling through "Brakpan" at the Hollywood branch there. At one stage I was so frustrated that I wanted to phone the Durban office to sort them out. They firstly did not know how to give me a yankee, then she insisted starting prices only. After operator no 3 he pushed me over the edge informing me that I cannot mix fixed places and wins in one yankee ....... eventually when I got the bet on they cancelled it because "the odds were too high" ....... walked out of there money in the pocket but severely pissed off. Luckily I know it's a "branch problem" cause I get only the best of service online from Hollywood.
