Can someone confirm for me... I was always under the impression that the Vaal inner course used the bend for 1400m and up. I have a vague notion that someone mentioned the other day they were using the straight course even though it was the inner course stated. I had no clue his was the case when studying the form and favoured inside draws because I assumed they would be using the bend.

On checking the sporting post card for tomorrow it states the inner track is being used, But, on looking at the races of 1400m it states straight. The ones of 2000m plus it states bend. I assume what is stated is correct but obviously on 1400 over the bend I would favour inside draws as I did earlier in the week, on the straight it is usually high numbers which have an advantage.

Does anyone know exactly which course is being used... is it effectively the outer for all races bar the 2000m+ races and if so why are they stating inside course? And if the outer track, are the high numbers probably still best? Or is this a new straight course for the inside track and low numbers best?

This scenario in truth is not uncommon with the disgraceful lack of information passed to the punter on which track was (and will be) used for each meeting at The Vaal. It is something that surely is quite easily dealt with so that the punter always knows what is going on and also has a way of identifying from form cards (winning form etc) which track (for each race!) was used at previous meetings. If Louis reads this, perhaps he can help as he seems to have a good grip on what goes on at the Vaal...? In the interim or if Louis does not reply, anyone's advices would be very useful for studying for tomorrow... (tu)
