I agree it's an inconvenience having to trek to the Vaal (and I'll be on course today) - but let's be thankful we at least have a meeting to attend - and maybe even to enjoy?

I genuinely reckon it has a good chance of a place double.
My best bet for today is race 8 no 12 - Fast Day. That Lockhead Jetstar form isn't too bad. I think it's good enough in the MR 70 handicap.

Well all I can do is to give my opinion - and yes it's a bit of a guessing game imo:
R3: The word is obvioulsy out about the 1/2 brother to Jet Master and it would not be wise to go against him - One Up comes from a strong formline and looks best of those that have raced; for a bit of roughie to run into the trifecta/quartet. maybe consider Menacing who put up a fair debut in a fast run race.
R4: Cat's Game the obvious one, but comes off a longish rest, so could be vulnerable - contenders to consider imo include Spanish Victory, Moulin D'Or, Beautiful Bella and very well related Snow Princess
R5: Merhee could still improve, but I'm not 100% convinced - General Sherman did not really frank the form last week, many of the others look ready to pick up the pieces if he fails; at the weights I think Ryan's a Lion must have a chance with National Road and Extra Cover - all 3 have good form over this trip - but imo it's Merhee, or go very wide in the JP and P6
R6: Imo IF Bugle Call repeats his last run, he will win - I have him at least at a 76 based on that last run behind Baracah (surely can't compare that run to a maiden winner like Panjo); however on BC's previous runs there is not much between him and horses like President Elect and Milkwood Manor
R7: Jade Bay the obvious one, but he was all out to hold on last time and is beatable imo - Blue Nile has some good form over this trip and does get a 4 kg allowance, so could feature imo; Vacherin comes off a very long rest and Fradd is not riding, but if coming back to his best (which does seem unlikely taking the riding arrangements into account) could go close to winning this and may as such be a nice inclusion in trifectas and quartets
R8: Competitive handicap - two roughies to consider imo are Thunderball who will enjoy the better going as opposed to his last run on that diabolical outside Vaal track and Capitoline who likes this trip; Tuesday's Child did run a very good race behind Merhee last time and has been given 15 points by the handicapper, but could place if repeating that run for a stable that has found some form - not much between Dawn Light and Fast Day on their runs behind Lockheed Jetstar and Jade Bay, so they must have chances as well.
R9: Weakish filles and mares handicap to close the P6; obvious chances to Voodoo Girl and Golden Handshake, Rivulet perhaps better over shorter, two roughies to consider imo are Jellie Tot (who is at least sure to stay and there is not much between her and the more fancied Angies Fancy) and Sweet Balletine, who could be looking for this sort of trip
I hope this helps a bit - enjoy (tu)
