I doubt racism was involved. Not to much of Indian Celebrities of South African Origin in South Africa in any case that is known by most South Africans. I regard myself as South African and that were it stops. The skin colour of the celebrities should not come into play as it been done for Charity. The more popular the Celebrity, its obvious there will be a better response. That said Deena, the 1st winner of Master Chef South Africa, could have been a worthy celebrity. He would have "cooked" up a storm and his food could have been sampled for a little cost and all proceeds donated towards Charity.

Where were the celebs representing other racial groups at the Rising Sun Gold Challenge? So i'd also say lets not get unnecessarily offended... Racing in SA can't do without the Indians. They missed a trick in the marketing for this event, but look at the broader picture, and please tell your daughter of the many Indian celebs that were driven down the Claiwood racetrack in Ferraris.

@Mr Hawaia, etc
What started out as a mere observation shows how embroiled we are within the constraints of conditioned thinking in terms of race.
I agree, race had nothing to do with it (from my own point of view).
But then, when our kids are challenged by what seems innocuous and immaterial, do we just bat our eyes and wish that away?
As a kid, I questioned my parents (and teachers) as to why I could not sit on the bench in the park, be in the 1st class train compartment, use the 'goods only' lift, be served from the rear of a cafe, sit at the back in a cinema (if allowed, or upstairs), had to get a permit to enter the ou Transvaal (and not allowed into the Free State!), etc.
All that made a difference to my involvement in the struggle and patterned my outlook (to be the 'racist' I am today!). Herein, I repeat.... for all of our people!

The greatest hope for the country is, that if you observe kids around that age(10),you are struck by how generally unaffected they are by race or colour,and how well they interact................................so to have a 10 year old immediately analysing quota issues as a matter of course, suggests some adult is having an unfortunate influence...............I wonder who that could be?

theres a big diffrence between grade 10 and 10 year old. i think grade 10s are far more observant and aware of their suroundings.

I happened to be present at a 16yr olds party a few weeks ago............completely multi-racial and lots of fun with no sign of prejudice...................they do best without us adults interfering,but you are obviously entitled to disagree!
