Be a more PROFITABLE PUNTER.....STATS and TIPS

12 years 10 months ago
#249208
just checked my stats for the last 10 meetings i tipped.....50 horses - 21 winners - 36 places
ave 5 horses per meeting -2,1 winners and 3.6 places
winners 42%!!!!!
places 72%!!!!!
if you played R100 WINS on each horse, your return is R12190 for total of R5000 outlay
ave odds per winner is 4.8/1
if you played R200 places on each horse, your return is R13 220 for total of R10 000 outlay
ave odd per place is 8/10
profit R10 410 in one week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the way I structure my bets is easy ,I start with R3000 balance available
I always play 25% win and 75% place for my outlay on a race
DONT PLAY EVERY RACE ON THE CARD IF YOU DIDN'T DO YOUR HOMEWORK(I MEAN STUDY,NOT HOPING MAGI OR GREGBUCKS OR ME WILL TIP U A NICE OUTSIDER....),YOU WILL NEVER MAKE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I start with 50win / 150place bet and double up if the horse run unplaced,so if it run unplaced then you play 100/300 on your next race .....lets say it also run unplaced ,then you bet 200/600 on the next horse you picked .....and again unplaced....now you bet 400/1200 with your last money ...and if he also run unplaced,DONT GO NEAR AN ATM.....DONT DRAW MONEY.....GO HOME AND BE ANGRY AT YOURSELF FOR NOT DOING YOUR HOMEWORK PROPERLY....(I know a lot of you are grinning right now,you sooooo guilty)

When your horse ran a place and you had for example 200/600 bet on and it ran a place, your next bet will start again at 50/150....Never break this rule ,no-matter if its Variety Club or Sea Cottage or Tribal Dance in the next race.....Stick to the betting structure!!!!!!
if a horse i want to bet is less than 15/10 for a win, then i dont bet places, you put 100% of your outlay on wins.
Always start your raceday with your R3000 balance available and your first bet 50/150

example for you is what i did at turfontein 15 july(below average day if consider i had 7 horses- 2 winners(29%) and 4 places(57%)....)
R3000 balance
R2-6 50 wins 3/1 150 places 3/10 .......ran 2nd ....return R195
R3-11 50 wins 13/1 150 places 18/10 ......ran 3rd....return R420
R4-8 50 wins 10/1 150 places 3/1 .......won..... return R1150
R5-1 50 wins 150 places.....unplaced
R6-6 100 wins 300 places .....unplaced
R7-10 200 wins 22/10 600 places 3/10 ....won....return R1420
R8-3 50 wins 150 places....unplaced

TOTAL outlay R2200 and return R3185 profit R985

Now go study the racecard of the next meeting and have your R3000 balance handy....and leave the previous day's profit home

WHAT IS THE VALUE OF VALUE BETS?????A VALUE BET IS NOT A 10/1 OR 50/1 HORSE THAT YOU "THINK" CAN RUN A PLACE OR MAYBE ONCE IN A BLUE MOON WIN THE RACE BECAUSE THE HIGH-AS-A-KITE GROOM GAVE YOU A TIP,OR THE FRIEND WHO KNOWS SOMEONE ON THE INSIDE..WAKE UP SUNSHINE....WHY STRUGGLE,IF YOU CAN PROVE WHY HE IS A STEAL AT THE PRICE ACCORDING TO FORMLINES,THEN BY ALL MEANS....BACK HIM. I RATHER LOOK AT WHO I AM SURE WILL BEAT THE FAVORITE OF THE RACE ACCORDING TO FORMLINES AND THAT MY FRIENDS....THATS WHERE THE VALUE LIES .....

Hope this help some of you to be better PUNTERS and make some PROFITS.....

If anyone have advice for the Punters, you welcome to reply

Thanks Ziets

I like the structure and will be following it today. Nothing to lose.

I will also be using your selections as I am of the opinion that the strike rate is good.

Ziets,
I cant see your long term viability in taking 1-10th of the win odds for horses to be placed on occasions.
I know of very few punters who have won long term betting predominately the place.
Last week I went to advanced betting seminar in Melbourne put on Betfair, and one of the interesting angles was that punters lost (layers won) up to 4.0 (3/1), and that reversed from 4.0-12.0.
So it shows that there is little value in backing short priced horses straight out.

Ziets, what about the last 10 years or as in my case the last 20 years.
Your obviously on a roll,as you keep pointing out and good for you.
But its only 10 meetings,i will monitor your progress and if your still flying high
after a 100 meetings then i will change my view on your methods...

Your knocking people on the inside, but your obviously talking to the wrong people.
Your sounding surprised at your good run of form,if it was the norm for you i dont
think you would blowing your trumpet so loud...
Anyway we all have different stategies and different access to information.
Good Luck Ziets

If there is one thing I have learned in life, when you feel you have mastered Horse Racing and Golf you are brought back to earth with a bang. Racing for me always seems to work in cycles, one week I cannot back a winner for love or money and the next week I cannot lose.

A bet is "Value" when the probability of success is greater than the odds on offer. (eg if you can get better than even money on the flip of a fair coin).
The tricky part is finding value before the event. You need to have better insight than the odds-maker who sets up the intial prices, or else you need the weight of popular money to move the odds to the point where you perceive value.
Any individual bet, or series of bets, can lose even if they are value bets. Similarly, a punter can get lucky with winning bets even when they are poor value. However, in the long term, finding value is the only possible long term winning strategy. (If I give you 11/10 on the flip of the coin, you will win half the time, and over a long period will make a profit. You may, however, be wiped out by a long losing streak.) There is no possible strategy to win by betting without accepting that there is also a significant risk that you may end up as a loser.
If your betting activities do not also provide you with fun and entertainment, you should think hard about why you are doing it.
It is difficult to find value bets in horseraces, since the aggregate odds (in SA) in every race are usually around 120%. (ie. you are being offered the equivalent of 8/10 on the flip of a coin).

The game is really fun when you log into a betting site on Saturday morning and see 3/1 What a Winter, back over 1200m at a galloping straight course at sea level at level weights. At least double the odds that he should have been.

arising out of your very good suggestion. I came up wid a slightly easier strategy 2 make money by gambling on the Tables @ the Casinos & it takes less time as well. there are only 3 combinations. RED BLACK & ZERO. Place a R100 on RED if does not come double up each time.Next bet R200 next bet R400 & next R800 & then R1600 on RED each time. U now get your R1600 investment & R1600 profit. There U are Guys based on ZO SUGGESTION.

Fixer not being rude and maybe i've missed the point (not for the first time! ;) ) but is that not the most obvious betting strategy of all time... you simply cover your stake each time from every losing bet until you win? Not sure that is similar to ZO's strategy. Like backing the 1 horse or the fav etc until it wins. It should indeed be a no lose strategy but 2 things... firstly, it might require a fair amount of capital in reserve if you hit a losing streak and secondly, having tried it once, it really is the most boring thing in the world!!! Though, if you were to hit a winning streak from the off it might not be quite so boring! ;) Personally, i couldn't try it again.

For me Ziets, if it works for you, keep going bud but just be mindful of when it turns against you, which it surely will at some point. I sense a little negativity from some of the clanners and I suspect that is not personal etc, just simply because you tend to blow that trumpet a little loud sometimes! A little modesty and appreciation of other's knowledge and abilities here would go a long way. People on here aren't here to show they are the best tipster in the world, they come here for banter, to win and to listen to other's views... and moan a little too of course! ;) I'm all for celebrating success, mine and others, but hopefully never to the point where I think I'm the best. To me, no-one, as I said to you, has anything to prove to anyone else here. Some days I am the best around, the fire strikes, but I love that not just for me but because it hopefully helps others win. That said, my way hasn't worked for a couple of months, and the knowledge of others here becomes even more valuable during such times. And listening to the likes of Magi and GB (as you mentioned those two) and knowing when they really like one etc is very important, we can't pick the winner of every race and must know when to, most humbly, bow to someone else's superior knowledge :)
