stipes report says that interference happened four strides before the line and the stipes were of the opinion that Pomodoro was finishing faster than royal bencher and despite the interference, left the result as declared by the judge. shocking travesty of justice

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) POMODORO, dead heat winner (G Lerena). Selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (JK).
b) ROYAL BENCHER, dead heat winner (A Marcus). Selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (JK).
At approximately the four strides before the finishing line, POMODORO (G Lerena) shifted outwards slightly making cont with ROYAL BENCHER (A Marcus). After calling a race review, an Objection was lodged by a Member of the Stipendiary Board on behalf of ROYAL BENCHER (A Marcus) against POMODORO (G Lerena) a dead heated winner, on the grounds of bumping shortly before the finishing line. The Objection Board after viewing the patrol films of the race and considering all the evidence, were of the opinion that POMODORO (G Lerena) was finishing faster than ROYAL BENCHER (A Marcus) and despite the interference, left the result as given by the Judge. The result stands.

:So long as your horse is finishing fast, then cause as much interference as you like just to make sure....... and you will get away with it. P is veering away from the whip held in the right, switch to the left to straighten, then back to the right ....and wham bam what a surprise. Rreckless? or intentional?."...:

Eyes close, head falls into hand shaking from side to side. After a few self-calming moments the decision is taken to go and look at the Kenilworth form for tomorrow and make no comment...
