Is the clearance time for these various drugs listed somewhere? Online maybe? It should be simple enough to get the info. The companies that sell drugs for human use have to check this before they are allowed to market a drug so that dosages can be calculated, also when the next dose can be administered.

At least that's the case with human drugs. Has it been tested for the horse's physiology? Onderstepoort?

OK, it varies with individual horse ... some take longer to excrete a particular substance than others. It's the same with individual humans. But there should be some sort of time frame given, e.g. 7 days for 90% elimination, 12 days for 100% elimination. Something along those lines. Sounds to me there's too much guessing going on here, where trainer's reputations and livelihoods are at stake.

if the fine was the "death sentence" do you think gavy would pay more attention ? Do you think that any trainer should let a situation created by a vet to affect his livelyhood? The ONLY reason this happens is because many trainers are bugger all without vets.

my opinion is that in many cases a rest(3 months in a paddock) will save you far more in the long run than the pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs that vets are so keen on dishing out - I agree with you easy many trainers rely/trust the vet
's opinion far too much and it's the owner and poor horse that suffer

2 points to clarify.
There have been two,and if there is another offence within 5 yrs of the 1st offence... thats tickets.
The vet is paying half and that relationship has been strained by the whole saga.
