Breeders Cup
13 years 7 months ago
Next Weekend, time to get excited !!!
Bit disapointed that MDK never entered Musir for something as the yank turf horses are always behind European Form..
5/2 Goldikova is a cracking price and i`m thinking about having a lump on.Some might say she has lost a bit but i prefer to think she has just bumped into a few and her 2 wins this year a good enough to win this imo..
What you fancy? Tommy /Barrry what are the yanks crazy about?

Team Valor has three runners in the BC:
STATE OF PLAY in the Juvenile Turf. He is probably the best American 2yo colt on turf, but he missed his prep race when he ran a fever for 4 days and has had only two works recently. He is playing catch up, has only run twice and it is a big ask. But he won a "Win and You're In" race to qualify to run without having to pay any fees, so we are emboldened to take a chance. He is by War Front. Very good colt. Bought him as an unraced colt in the spring at a private farm after he breezed nicely.
LUCKY CHAPPY in the Juvenile Turf. A surprise package. He will be a longshot and I like his chances for at least a place. Bought him in Italy, where he won 2 of 3 as a front runner. In his U. S. debut, his head was turned toward the stands rail when the gates sprung open and he was left about 5 lengths. He raced last to the 2-furlong pole and came flying down the lane to finish third in his Grade 3 prep race. He has done nothing but good since that race and he is a colt on the rise. There isn't much to him physically and the Jockey Club can't even decide what color he is (bay or grey!), but he is very competitive and knows exactly where the finishing post is! He is by High Chaparral.
BRIGANTIN in the Marathon. A homebred that has raced in Europe for us at 2, 3 and this year at 4. He was effective over 12 furlongs at 3 in stakes company in France and Switzerland. When we stretched him out over 15 furlongs plus, he came into his own. He is a Group 2 winner this season at Longchamp and has placed in the two best staying races in Europe and Britain in the Prix du Cadran and the Ascot Gold Cup. Bringing him to the BC to run on dirt and dropped to14 furlongs is the idea of Andre France. Since he is the best trainer in the world, I am certainly not going to question him, but dropping from 2 1/2 miles to 1 3/4 miles from turf to dirt does seem like a serious challenge!

I saw this and wondered 'who is Andre France'?
Of course, it's just a typo and should be Andre Fabre.
According to Wiki, Andre Fabre has won 19 straight champion trainer titles in France!

He is such a legend, the French government passed a decree to change his last name to France!

CONNECTIONS of Goldikova, who will bid for her fourth successive triumph in Saturday's Breeders' Cup Mile, are "super happy" with her draw in stall one, but those of her main market rival Strong Suit were left deflated by his berth in 11.
