Is this true? And if so, what does everyone think about it?

If we compare SA to UK (other countries?) it costs plenty to go racing, last year at Cheltenham it cost 60 GBP per day.
So I would have no problem, plus if you go to rugby/soccer etc you would also pay.

I think I read on Racing Post website that it costs 8 Euros to go to the Arc. That's a lot less than Greyville on July day, and compared to 60 pounds for Cheltenham...??!

Charge R30 but get clever, give a few food vouchers, like R2 off here or R2 off there, maybe include a free R10 betting voucher, they would probably amke tenfold.their money back, get to meet your favourite Jockey, perhaps that might draw more people, just a thought. Include a loyalty programme for every ten tenth time you have been to the course you get entrance free. Personally I prefer Clairwood, much friendlier and love the Panorama.

I go to greyville for every meeting held at d course, and don't mind paying an entrance fee, however the prices off food and beverages are crazy.if they charge an entrance fee, they should give some kind of voucher, on the flipside of it, greyville is starting to get bigger attendance,I I think the entrance fee is going to have a negetive impact on this, as the punter especially the younger and smaller punter coz they can go to any tote for free.

As far as I know and was also told last night that the R30 was only for the Gold Cup meeting. Will keep my ears open and let you know if there is any change.
