Kenilworth and Borrowdale - Saturday
14 years 5 months ago
The only reason I include Zimbabwe is in case someone knows more than I do
Here is what I fancy for the Queen's Plate meeting:
POCKET POWER......................thank you very much!
Oh and Philipian in the last Borrowdale
Happy punting!

I completely agree. I think he is a nice horse, but Solo Traveler is still the one to beat there. In the P6 I would include the above two as well as Castlethorpe and Il Saggiatore

Wow what a day's racing awaits us.
Competitive card as always on big race days. Solo Traveller looks the obvious banker today and should win.
I simply can't wait for the Queens Plate, what a race is in store for us. I think it will be fought out by the fairer sex but I am not sure which one will come out on top. I am slightly leaning towards Ebony Flyer but for me it is too close to call. I will not be backing on the nose and will box the two in exacta's and take quite a few swingers on the two. I think on the tote you will get good value if you are looking to beat Pocket Power as a lot of sentimental money will be on him giving good value elsewhere.
My roughie for today is in Race 6 with Louisiana Dandy, he is drawn perfectly at 1 so will be on the rail for nothing and this last two runs over the course and distance have been good by winning and running a decent 5th after being carried wide. Richard Fourie gets on well the horse and he has been supported on his last two runs as well. I think 14/1 represents some nice eachway value and could make the exotics pay if he comes in.
Good luck to my friend Erik who has Time and Love running in the Queens Plate today, I would love to see him run in the first half of the field.
All the best to everyone and lets hope for a great days racing.

I see in Race 3 Jeppe's Reef on interbet and several other sites has shortened to 5/2. It hasn't been officially claimed as yet and I see Marshall's World of Sport and Sportsbet still have him at 4,2/1 and 9/2 respectively. This won't last long so if you fancy him you better hurry.

Yes Shrek Solo Traveller does look the banker and the main race WOW!
I have heard all the experts and think it will be good for racing to have a new champ and I have gone for Ebony Flyer in a big way with an early bet and a nice ATC, also have some evens for the place.
I am going against the stats and concerned about the draw but cant change my mind now and may the best horse/filly win (tu)

Fantastic day in store at Kenilworth today; thoughts (to be taken with a pinch of salt)
R3: Lots of form, very few no-hopers; both Mike Bass and Joey Ramsden confident about their horses - need at least 3 in the PA imo
R4: Ultra competitve fillies and mares - a case can be made for almost every runner - Danish Diva seems best handicapped but is drawn widest of all
R5: Love is in the Air could be a PA Banker - but will need some luck from a wide draw; Sunsational and A Daughter's Legacy place chances from good draws - Zirconeum needs more improvement and Flirtation imo best over further
R6: Polar Bound all the rage, but 14/10 no value imo - I think Khyber Crossing is good each way value
R7: Brown Penny is in top form and could still be ahead of the handicapper - another possible PA banker imo
R8: A real humdinger - preparing my face for all the eggs - but I think Mother Russia is going to win an win easily; Pocket Power's last win does not inspire me with confidence and therefor I have doubts about Past Master (is he a better sprinter?) and Tales of Bravery (apparently showed a lung infection when scoped after the race - so could be better that run). If Ebony Flyer is as good as the Snaiths think, she could be the main danger to Mother Russia - only the race will tell.
R9: Solo Traveller may well win but is absolutely no value at odds-on (turning the other side of my face for some more eggs) - only the race will show if he really gets the 1800 and there are plenty of up and coming horses receiving chunks of weight from him - I going to buck the trend and load up in the P6.
In general, watch how they run the 3rd race - in the week everybody made a bee-line for the outside rail (making wide draws not that bad), but according to Mike Bass, the rail configuration has been changed for today - so the draw may play a huge roll today.
Enjoy:)
