He must just stop putting more then 2 horses in the field . All the rave was on Mother Russia and Zirconeum . No mention of Perana yet that was the one the money poured on .

I always tend to be a bit wary of judging a horse on one run,but the weight deficit didn't put anybody off backing it, which probably negates the fluke factor!
I will stick my thing on a block and rate it the best 3 yr old in the country right now.....that run was beyond belief beating a top mare, out at the weights.

that kinda was my point. a run that defies belief in every sense of the word. 1 time winner or 20 time winner.........

I'm still going to reserve judgment until I see him next time!

Gibraltar Blue absolutely blew me away - Perana was impressive as well (and whether he is a 1 time winner or a 10 time winner is not really the point) but he got 8.5 kg's from Mother Russia - yes I know he is a 3 yr old, but who knows how other 3 yr olds would have done in this race - if Power Park can run 3rd, the rest of them either fluffed their lines (Quick SIngle and Zirconeum) or are overrated - obviously Perana was way underrated by the handicapper, so let's see what he does at level weights against the best 3 yr olds. All 3 are good enough to hold their own anywhere in the world - just my opinion. And while I'm not the biggest Delpech fan around, I have to say he never gave up - fantastic ride.

monday is closing date for the summer cup or will he be a met horse...considering what stable mate alderry did to the majority of summer cup noms last week maybe its not a pipedream...delpech was far more excited after piranha wins than alderrys...

Perana's last run was on voda july, very unlucky 5th.Opened around 5's for race, started 16/10 fav.
Should have measured form after Kavanagh(2nd) in tht race, trouncing a top field last week.
Mdk must be having restless nights with so many good horses in stable.

If it was up to me,I would go for something like the Cape derby, then Natal season with all its options.I think he is a bit green for Summer cup and I wouldn't want to bust him up too much, cos he'd probably be out at the weights again.
Pirates do you know if there is a cap on his MR for that win, otherwise he could go as high as 114 ?
