The win pool in the last was R46395 , very small imo and therefore no liquidity to ensure a fair payout . This is one of the problems the pools are too small . Plus now we got this SILLY atc tote bet which is creating a major imbalance on dividends .

it could be that the fixed price tote operator is taking back the atc on the tote.
makes sense if they do.

lets assume they had grandpa's boy 4/1 atc special club 4/1 R50,000/R2000
and Grandpas boy 4/1 atc hunters green 4/1 atc special club 4/1 R125,000/R1,0000

so they take back on the tote an atc R3,000 atc Grandpas boy (R3.10), with R9300 onto hunters green (R4.70)...collecting R28,710 on the R43710 going forward to special club (2.80)...collecting a further R42,000...total of R85710..

given that they made a book with Grandpa's boy...perhaps broke square on the race..
given that they made a book with hunters green...perhaps broke square or won on the race..
given that they made a book with special club...they laid the winner at around 18/10.2/1..22/10....taking the R85710 from R175,000 from the double and treble
they laid 3 other horses at 5/2, 7/2 and 5/1........in the last race...

would have been better for them if special club did not win, as they have already collected R43710 from the tote?
maybe other bookies are doing this too....
said that I think its a good bookies tool....the fact that you get money back as only R15,000 can go forward...

No way can I see bookies taking back ATC with the tote?

I use the tote win/place amounts to back a horse... my feeling is that if a horse is 10/1 and is showing R8.00 a win with 1 min to go i back that horse. To me it says that there is money on that horse (maybe the punter/s dont want to back it on the bookies as it would shorten drastically)... just my 2 cents worth:D

Yes, 0.60 the place payout! So if you place betted for R100, you would have lost R40 even though your horse did place. Pretty mean hey.

Lingfield race6 on thursday the 4th of Nov needs to be investigated.
The winner of the race was Clear Praise. When the raced closed he was showing R3,60 a win and R2,80 a place(2 places). The race ran i.e 60 or 70 seconds later and the payouts where the same. Surely all late money would have come into the pool by then.
The next thing I noticed that the tabonline changed from showing RACE CLOSED to 0 Min to race. The horses place changed from R2,80 a place to R1,60 and the pool closed again.

In my mind its obvious that somebody got on after the race.

I do take all to come places with Hollywoodbets and I notice that almost all the time this is covered on the tote as the tote is paying R1.10 and many times R1.00 for a place, mind you they pay below a rand 20 minutes before the race which tells you that someone has placed a good amount of money on the horse. This applies to both fixed odds and tote place when taking an ATC with the bookie.

Just my obervation as to why so many R1.00 places.

It is appalling especially when you have selected the horse and it is even worse when the horse runs unplaced!!!
