I guess p miller and g smith might only be the winners in the kim n pe jackpots, that straight line pick6 sounds nice but its so hard winning it with couplings n first timers imagine straight line, it would be nice to have a consolation winner with the tickets that came the closest to winning it so even if your selected horse came second in the last leg you should be a winner

I think what Saftote needs to do is segment it's bets very clearly,so that the bet variations cover a cross section.Everybody gambles with different ambitions and there should be something for everybody.
What has happened over the years is every new broom has tried to be smarter than the last, which often leads to change, for change sake only.

Think about why the coupling &/or first timer rule came about.......( IMO to protect the mass of punters who have no access to the "info" or "graft")

My question is simple...is that no longer important?

As I have said the "new" rules suit my strategy but there is a bigger picture!

(I don't know the current profiles, but in the days of 50c Jpots and PA's ,single tickets made up more than 50% of the pool,so don't underestimate the value of the small punter)

There are 2 questions when you consider this change. Not only "is it better for me" but also "is it better for most"?

Bob how could we play this?

Combined Scoop6 pots to reach £1.5m on Saturday

DUAL rollovers mean that the combined win and bonus funds in this weekend's Scoop6 are expected to top £1.5 million.

The Tote Scoop6 bonus pot, which has not been won since a week before the Derby, breached the £1 million mark last weekend, while a rollover of £232,421 in the win fund means even a winner of Saturday's bet will receive the best part of half a million pounds, with the opportunity to add a further seven-figure sum the following weekend.

Totesport spokesmanGeorge Primarolo said: “Although the majority of Scoop6 players will have one eye on the £1m bonus fund, a win rollover of almost a quarter of that means that a single winner of this weekend’s bet could land a cool £1.5 million."

Saturday's bet features six races from Doncaster and Newbury, the highlight of which is the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster, leg four of the bet.

Unusually the line-up of races includes only two handicaps, which suggests more players will fancy their chances of selecting the six winners than is normally the case.

Leg 1: 1.55 Doncaster
Leg 2: 2.05 Newbury
Leg 3: 2.40 Newbury
Leg 4: 2.55 Doncaster
Leg 5: 3.10 Newbury
Leg 6: 3.40 Newbury

Bonus fund beckons for 14 Scoop6 winners

THERE were 14 winners of the Totescoop6 bet on Saturday, each taking a share of the £407,441 win fund.

The winners will now go into next weekend with a chance of winning a bumper bonus pot of over £1,119,788.

Some 30 tickets remained going into the final leg at Newbury, with almost half of them on the 3-1 favourite Zoowraa. The winning tickets divided into 12 who selected the Michael Jarvis-trained runner and two on any unnamed favourite.

It costs £2 for a straight line so if you work out a reasonable one you could end up spending plenty

TAB MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Big change to rules of Jackpot
DATE: Thursday 28 October 2010
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming and Leisure Limited

The coupling of stable companions and the first-timer rule will not apply to TAB’s Jackpot bet on South African races from this Monday 1 November.
This important rule change brings the Jackpot on South African racing in line with TAB’s Jackpot on international races for which neither the coupling nor first-timer rules apply.
“The chief reason for axing the couplings and first-timer rule from the Jackpot on South African racing was that many people felt the bet had gone stale and needed to be revitalised. Doing away with couplings and the first-timer rule will obviously make the Jackpot more difficult to win, which in turn should rekindle interest in the bet,” said Phumelela’s General Manager Marketing and Communications Robert Garner. “In addition the Jackpot rules for local and international races will now be the same.”
Phumelela Betting Executive Vee Moodley added that under the current rules the Jackpot was merely an abbreviated version of the Pick 6. “The amendments to the Jackpot rules from 1 November give the bet its own unique identity going forward,” he said.
TAB customers need to note that as a result of the coupling rule falling away, should any horse selected for the Jackpot be scratched it will be replaced by the tote favourite.
The coupling of stable companions and the first-timer rule will continue to apply to TAB Pick 6 bets.
