The participation of a number of British and Irish runners – including Aidan O'Brien's four Arc contenders – at Longchamp this weekend has been thrown into doubt after it was revealed that various batches of Gain horse feeds have been found to be contaminated with a prohibited substance.

O'Brien is among many leading trainers who use Gain products.

On Friday evening, Gain Equine Nutrition issued a statement advising trainers to refrain from feeding horses its equine products, including its widely used racehorse cubes and mix, after it emerged some of its products have been contaminated with Zilpaterol, which is unlicensed in Europe but is used in America and elsewhere to promote weight gain, mainly in cattle.

....what I fail to understand is how zilpaterol ....a non registered substance in Europe gets into an Irish production facility that prides itself as a major global food and nutritional product manufacturer.....

The question is: Enable or Strad? I want to be part of Enable’s 3rd win but Strad is my baby.

Exacta R1 : 5 x 2, and hope for the best.

If SA jockeys were riding in Paris today they would try and get the meet called off as the going is soft.

Enable was back in action on the Newmarket gallops on Thursday morning just four days after her Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe disappointment and the signs are that she could yet have one last hurrah before retirement on Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday week

More details on Racing Post .....
