Racing was mourning another great name on Wednesday following the death of Geoff Lewis, who won the Derby and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on the brilliant Mill Reef and was hailed as "one of the icons of the turf".

Juddmonte colt  Publish , who was hot favourite for Saturday's  Solario Stakes , will not line up in the Group 3 contest after being declared a non-runner on Friday evening. The Kingman two-year-old was as short as evens for Sandown's feature contest after striking over course and distance last month but was ruled out of the race by trainers John and Thady Gosden due to ground conditions. The going changed from soft, good to soft in places to soft all over following racing on Friday, with 16mm of rain on Friday morning.
