New Rule? Hemisphere Allowance?
14 years 11 months ago
As per the Tabgold website:
Race Number Change
11 14 Claims 1.5Kg Hemisphere allowance
Gibraltar Blue gets a 1.5kg allowance due to being sired North of the line. Has this always been the case for SNL horses? Will this apply for any races, including handicaps, maidens...?

Boy,horseracing knows how to shoot itself in the foot......The allowance is a variation of the WFA allowance and is because she is younger, not because she's a pom.
Why not label it WFA to avoid all misunderstanding?

Gibraltar Blue already has a 1.5kg wfa allowance to take her to 58.5kg, like Strawberry Ice and Play Nice-all 3 year olds.
Now Gibraltar Blue gets ANOTHER 1.5kg to only carry 57kg. Sure, she is 6 months younger than the other 3 year olds, but I'm not aware of other SNL horses getting a special wfa allowance

I think its reasonable to get the correct age allowance, but as Pirates says, lets ensure it is applied consistently and if it is a new innovation, which I assume is the case as nobody appears to have come across it before, publicise it.

and now comes out to win too? De Kok mentions she's 6 months younger; we know that, but she did get her extra 1.5kg for it.
would like an explanation from Gold Circle-well, the NHRA apparently called the card change through

Interesting that he made no mention of the extra allowance,in spite of discussing her being 6 months younger...very strange?

And in the past there was always a bold SNL next to the runners name in the various racecards to bring to the punters attention that the horse did not fall into the 01 August compulsory ageing. Nothing now. Very weird....... that said, she gonna kick as much ass as she likes while she here.... superb youngster.

Makes no sense this allowance. It has never been done before, but now all of a sudden.
Everyone knows that northern hemisphere horses are 6 months behind and they have known this now for the last 50 years???? Why make a big deal about it now??? And why give her an allowance now???
If I were the owners of Autumn Gold I would be quite unhappy. (1.5kg's certainly translates to more than a neck???)
Another kick in the balls to SA racing if you ask me

Only in WFA races:
All runner sired north of the equator and born on N. Hemisphere time (ie 6 month behind us), gets the addition weight for age allowance.
Rule at least a few years old.
Apparently soon to be applied in hcps too.
Gibraltar Blue was born 7th April 2007
Strawberry Blue born 25th Sep 2006
Play Nice born 8th Nov 2006
