De Kock's Dubai stars join Australian stable
Australia: Runaway UAE Derby winner Musir has joined the Sydney stable of David Payne to be trained for the Tatts Cox Plate, Australia's most prestigious weight-for-age race, at Moonee Valley in October.
Formerly trained by Mike de Kock, the son of Redoute's Choice has been beaten just once in six starts.
Musir is joined by former De Kock-trained stablemate Raihana, who finished runner-up in the UAE Derby after winning the UAE Oaks at Meydan.
"Musir looks very special and I'm delighted to be given the opportunity to train both horses for Sheikh Khalifa," said Payne, an ex-pat South African.
"They got outof quarantine on Tuesday and will spend a couple of weeks on a farm stretching their legs before we get them into work in preparation for the spring.
"The Cox Plate is the target for Musir and we'll kick off his campaign here in Sydney and probably look at a race like the George Main."
Raihana is likely to contest the big fillies and mares' features over the Melbourne spring carnival.
