Cape Town objection

Watched the racing replays last night and in his post race interview of the last race Grant Knowles said we should stand by for an interview with the stipes for feedback. Unfortunately Telecrap never bothered to air the footage. From what I saw on the head on it looked like Al On The Run went for a non existant gap. I have no gripes with the stipes but would have appreciated their comment, preferably live on Teletrack during the course of the day. I don't mind losing, I just think I deserve an explanation on why I lost.

In an ideal world every race should be analised in a show by a panel of `experts` would be much better than watching the chariots..

what amazes me is this to my knowledge is the first word on all the sites regarding the objection..i have zero doubt that if an odds on favourite lost the race on an objection to a 20 to 1 outsider our many speak from the pocket punters would be whinging

Jockey M J Byleveld, the rider of APOLO GREY, reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure.

c) At about the 250 m FIGHTING CHANCE (G Hatt) and ARCTIC JET (K Teetan) came together.

d) Leaving the 200 m APOLO GREY (M J Byleveld), which was hanging out, rolled outwards slightly, and on being corrected shifted inwards onto AL ON THE RUN (B Fayd’herbe), which had to check after taking the run on APOLO GREY‘s (M J Byleveld) inside. A Member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review, and at the same time Trainer S Humby lodged an Objection on behalf of AL ON THE RUN (B Fayd’herbe) being placed 2nd, against APOLO GREY being declared the winner on the grounds of interference in the latter stages of the race. After reviewing the patrol films, and hearing the evidence the Board was of the opinion that but for the interference AL ON THE RUN (B Fayd’herbe) would have finished ahead of APOLO GREY (M J Byleveld) and upheld the objection and amended the judges’ result.

e) Jockey M J Byleveld, the rider of APOLO GREY, was charged with a contravention of Rule 66.4, in that he weighed in at 53.6 kg, which was more than 1kg above the weight at which he weighed out (52.5kg). Jockey M J Byleveld signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1,000.00.

How does a jockey weigh in at more than he weighed out, practically speaking? Why sign an admission of guilt to this effect?

Not having a go at the rider, just wondering how it's even possible.
