Winning Horse Statistics

Winning Horse Statistics.

Andrewest, hope you will read this, and add to this...a database on runner stats, is not available to general public, so maybe time to start a data base.

Data drilling...let us start off by gathering data.

I hope most posters have access to Excel.

I can set up a simple spreadsheet, with key info, to start off the information gathering process, which can be e-mailed, to whoever is interested...standard format, which can be discussed and agreed upon., and returned for consolidation of data.

Once this info is consolidated into a single or many database(s), (and trust me on this ..I am a above average in analysing data), I am analyst by nature and career.

An example of data required, where available

Name of Winning Horse : Posh Josh
Stipe comments on previous run : Examined-normal
Name of Examiner : ?????
Trainer : Y Govender
Previous Trainer : B Crawford
Month/Year of Trainer Switch: Sep 09
Owner : Mrs S Plattner
Date Data 1st recorded : Today
Bookmaker Odds : Rxxx (if available)
Tote Win : Rxxx
Tote Place : Rxxx
Race Distance : xxxm
Lengths ahead of 2nd placed horse
Jockey Name :
Course :
Course Going :
Date of Race :
Race Class :
Horse MR :
Favourite :
Bookie Price on Favourite :
Jockey on Favourite :
Trainer of Favourite :
To be update at later stage : Stipe comments on this run
Name of Stipe for this run :

The ideal would be to have each horses history recorded...not possible as of today,, BUT lets look ahead to maybe 2 years from now.

Imagine what information can be gleaned from this database in 2 years time.

This kind of info would not only enforce transparency, but also expose "any" wrongdoings.

The biggest hurdle would be to overcome the info gathering process.

The scenario is, one person allocated a race, i.e

Poster A, would record the agreed info for Race 1, everyday.

Poster B, would record the agreed info for Race 2 everyday...and so on.

Posters would be pre-allocated and agreed upon.

All data would be e-mail to all participating posters, for transparency.

I am prepared to consolidate info and redistribute to all.

Agree that some of the data may be difficult to get hold of, which would mean using available resources.

I am quite sure though, that some posters may have info available, that the general public is not privy to.

As a regular, and reasonably big spending punter, it appears that there are other forces in play, that sometimes plays havoc with form study, and this puts us punters, at a distinct disadvantage.

Only by having the right kind of statistics available, will we be able to take other influencing factors into account, over and above form study.
