**PRESS RELEASE**
At the recent AGM of Racing South Africa, Mr John Bescoby stood down as a Director representing Gold Circle’s Owners. He was replaced by, Mr Vidrik Thurling, who was also elected Chairman of the Company.
By agreement, each shareholder holds the position of Chairman for a two year period. In the case of the Owners’ shareholding, Mr Larry Wainstein, representing the Racing Association, served during the last financial year and remains on the Board. Mr Wainstein is thanked for his efforts on behalf of Racing South Africa.
Mr Thurling is currently Co-Chairman of Gold Circle Racing and Gaming Group and has numerous horses in training in the country.
The Racing South Africa Board of Directors comprises:

Horseracing South Africa (Pty) Ltd t/a Racing South Africa was formed in August 2005 to look after matters of national and international interest on behalf of its equal third shareholders:

Thoroughbred Breeders Association of SA (TBA) 50 shares (33,33%)
OPERATORS
Gold Circle Racing & Gaming 25 shares (16,66%)
Phumelela Gaming & Leisure 25 shares (16,66%)
OWNERS
Gold Circle Owners (KZNOTA & WPOTA) 25 shares (16,66%)
Racing Association (RA) 25 shares (16,66%)
The Company’s functions are the following:
1. To fund and direct the management of Kenilworth Quarantine Station
2. To manage the functions of the former South African Horse Import & Export Council
3. To fund and direct the work of the South African Equine Trade Council t/a SAFHorse
4. To fund and direct the management of the Equine Research Centre
5. To fund and direct the work of the AHS Trust
6. To provide a forum that encourages debate on matters of national importance
