Great team but I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall when the team manager is giving them his pep talk. Lol!

This may sound a little "racist" coming from a white guy who doesn't even live in SA anymore.....But should they not have picked S'manga Khumalo?
He is a good jockey and it would have kept all the politicians or political wannabee's away from our great sport.

I don't mean to say that Khumalo is better or worse than anybody on the team, I just want to safeguard our sport from what has happened in other sports.

After all, they are receiving their national colours!!!

Any opinions?

Don`t agree with you on "S`manga" tommy but do think they missed a trick to give some of the young guys a boost!

You're right, it does sound racist. What else could you call it?

Jack, racist in that I would like to see the integrity of our sport protected from politicians???

I think maybe you miss my point and decide to make a comment about a word that intrigued you.

Unless I misunderstood your post?

Greg,

The fact that the government has quota systems in place whereby you have to choose a certain amount of players from previously disadvantaged communities.....You want to tell me this does NOT happen?

All I said was that I was hoping we could keep our sport clean of any governmental interfereance by choosing a jockey that was "representative" of our country. This way nobody from the government or anywhere else could turn around and say that horseracing is an "elitist game".

I believe it would have been a preventative measure.

South African sports has nothing to do with ability anymore but rather pure politics. (All this is my own opinion and I surely do not force it on anybody else)

I hope that the team selection didn't use your brand of integrity.

Political correctness and integrity are mutually exclusive as one of the concepts is the truth, and the other is a well dressed lie.

PS Racing is very much an elitist sport!
