Champions day- Newmarket 17th October
15 years 8 months agoSariska is 9/2 on saturday
Superb card at Newmarket on Saturday, with the Champion Stakes the highlight of a seven race card.
Would have been good to have seen Sea the Stars in the field but with the Likes of Fame and Glory (Irish Derby winner) and Sariska(Epsom oaks) its a top class field.
Alpine Rose was desperate in the Prix de l'Opera last time out and with a clear run would have won,so the 25/1 roughie quote is great value imo.
One of the most popular handicap races on the UK calendar is the Cesarewitch ran over 2m 2f The race was first run in 1839 and was named in honour of the Russian Crown Prince, the Tsesarevich, who visited the United Kingdom and who later became Tsar Alexander II.
Another unique fact of the race is that it crosses borders, the race starts in Cambridshire and finishes in Suffolk.
However its an impossible race for punters so will leave the race alone.
The dewhurst is a cracking looking race for and a proper test for the 2yo`s a grp1 over 7f.Arcano will be all the rage if he takes his place, having recorded a victory over Special Duty and Canford Clifs in France last time out.
The rest of the card is made up of two group2s and two group3s well worth a LOOK

Fame And Glory takes on 13 in Champion Stakes
Fame and Glory is 6/4 and Sariska 9/2
DUBAI DUTY FREE Irish Derby winner Fame And Glory will face 13 rivals in the Group 1 Emirates Airlines Champion Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
Trainer Aidan O'Brien also runs likely pacemaker Set Sail in a £350,000 contest, in which dual-Oaks winner Sariska will also represent the three-year-old generation under jockey Kieren Fallon.
Twice Over and Pipedreamer are among their olderrivals but Crystal Capella will instead bid to repeat her 2008 victory in the Pride Stakes on Saturday's card.

Newmarket ground good for Champions meeting
NEWMARKET'S two-day meeting, which culminates on Saturday with Champions Day, will begin on Friday on good ground after clerk of the course Michael Prosser left the going unchanged.
He said: "The GoingStick reading is 7.9 for the strip we will use on Champions Day and the reading is 8.3 for our Friday ground. Therefore, the official going description remains good. No irrigation has been undertaken.
"The forecast is unchanged. We could have light rain between 3am and 7am into Friday morning and that weak front is expected to clear ahead of sunny spells in a dry afternoon.
"Saturday also promises to be dry but possibly more overcast. Temperatures are expected to reach 14C on both days."

Sariska ready to take on colts in Champion Stakes
SARISKA, who enjoyed an outstanding first half of the season, bids to end the second half of the campaign in style with victory in the Emirates Airlines Champion Stakes on her first start against colts at Newmarket on Saturday.
The filly who completed the Investec Oaks-Darley Irish Oaks double in the summer will aim to maintain a strong tradition of success by her sex as she drops back to 1m2f for the Group 1 prize.
Trainer Michael Bell had exciting plans for Sariska after she had romped home on the Curragh, outlining a programme that would involve a crack at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, but her defeat by Dar Re Mi in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks after which she was found to be in season and a dry autumn has altered plans for a filly who favours cut in the ground.
Bell said: "I'd be very hopeful if we weren't having this unbelievably dry autumn. It's not ideal, but the ground was in very good shape last weekend and if it stays near good she should take the beating."
Sariska won over a 1m2f in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes in May but faces much stiffer opposition as she attempts to record the 14th win by a filly in the race since 1980.
Chief among her rivals is Fame And Glory, the winner of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, who has found himself in the shadow of Sea The Stars since his Classic triumph. The colt nevertheless ran well to finish second to Sea The Stars in the Tattersalls Million Irish Champion Stakes but was short of hisbest in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, in which he was sixth.
Three-year-olds have won four of the last five runnings of the Champion Stakes but there is a strong contingent of older horses, some still on the upgrade like supplementary entry Mawatheeq who attempts to emulate his relative Nayef who also won the Cumberland Lodge Stakes before triumphing in the Champion eight years ago.
Trainer Marcus Tregoning said: "I couldn't be more pleased with him. The faster they go, the better he'll go. I'm quite bullish about him. I like him a lot."
