I think Barry actually said the horse is completely overrated.

he has certainly not showed any of his south african form overseas..you only have to go onto formgrids to see how good he was..beating numerous group one winners out of sight including imbongi..

He is by no means the only one...even JJ the Jetplane, when winning a weak conditions race, ran a fair bit below his BHA rating!
It just appears that SA breds not as suited to UK,as say the USA,where our homebred horses seem to perform better!

Interesting how it works out. It does seem as they our horses perform below their ratings over there, though perhaps we are also being a bit harsh just because they're not winning Gr1's.
JJ put up two excellent efforts in Gr1's. Irridescence got narrowly beaten in a Gr1, didn't she? Victory Moon ran a good race behind Falbrav. Tartan Bearer, ranked as high as 9th in the world recently, is Irish bred but is by Spectrum who stands here now.

Careful with using swear words like Spectrum. Lol. At the moment he seems as out of favour as you can get.

As reflected in nose-diving prices at the sales, pirates. If you still have faith then he represents a bargain.

Any insight as to why? He's had 6 Gr1 winners (including Golan) across Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and a bunch of Gr2/3 winners all over the place, including England and France, but nothing over here yet. He's also produced Dutch Art (2 Gr1's) as a dam-sire. Oldest crop over here are now three years old, right? Not enough time?
