Opinion about an article found today

I found an aticle today about a prodigious racing talent out of Japan. Our intrepid traveller Mr. Paul Lafferty did an interview with Japanese "wunderkind", Kosei Miura and found it hard to communicate with him as the nice kid did not speak any English.......There was a comment posted about this in the article which I quote below..........

""Laff could’ve put a few words in his mouth, like, “You look like a narrow-eyed clown, don’t you? and he would have agreed and laughed heartily at that,”"

I'm not a prude and I like a good laugh as much as the next guy, but i thought this comment was slightly out of place.
When we are trying to put South African horse racing in a positive light around the world, maybe an article and a comment like this could do more damage than good?

I just wanted to get the clans opinion about this..............Any comments would be appreciated.

Agreed Tommy. I think Mr P is very narrow-eyed. Cant see him getting any offers to visit the Japan Cup

I think we all need a good "Laff" in this game and his one liners are classic, so I have no problems and can you imagine him at the Japan Cup, would be like Gulliver's travels.

I'm a big fan of Paul Lafferty, but he didn't write that one liner....it was simply reported as to "what he may have said"......That was my intitial thought.

I'm all about laughing at myself and others but I was not sure this was done it good taste....

Just my opinion though!!

In a country full of sensitivities on race relations, or lack their of, we should probably steer away from these types of remarks.

He could have put any words in his mouth like "your mom has a beard" but the writer chose to remark on a racial difference. Not too clever.
