Racing Post jumps or flat?

This will be a surprise outcome, especially for South African readers.

A survey of RACINGPOST.com users earlier this week found that no fewer than 63 per cent of those who responded prefer jumps racing and just 21 per cent favour the Flat.

That Flat racing clearly suffers from an image problem that it needs to tackle is a truism that can be dealt with another day. Because for the next two weekends even those who prefer their horses to be jumping obstacles every couple of furlongs will surely be captivated by the exploits of the three best turf horses in the world.

Tomorrow Rip Van Winkle faces a small but select field in the QEII Stakes at Ascot, and then next weekend Sea The Stars and Fame And Glory do battle again in the Arc.

It promises to be a thrilling period in racing history and for the best build-up, tips, previews and reports of all the action, don't forget to arm yourself with the Racing Post
