LUSH LASHES, one of last season's top performers, has been retired and will be offered as a broodmare prospect at Tattersalls December Breeding stock sale in Newmarket.
Trained by Jim Bolger for his wife, Jackie, Lush Lashes, an €80,000 yearling purchase, won the Goffs Fillies Million on her debut at the Curragh in September 2007, but it was last year that the daughter of Galileo blossomed into a top Group 1 performer when she won three times at the top level.
She landed the Coronation Stakes and the Matron Stakes over 1m and the Yorkshire Oaks over 1m4f at Newmarket. She also finished second in 1m2f Group 1 events -the Nassau Stakes and the Prix de L'Opera.
The decision to retire her follows her failure in three attempts this season to add to her career record of five wins. Bolger explained: "She was one of the most talented and versatile fillies I have trained. She was beginning to show bits of wear and tear, so we decided not to take any more chances with her."
