I wonder if the horse will be withdrawn a day or two before the race.

This is the best advertising for Ladbrokes. Thousands of degenerate punters probabley taking 200 pound 5 leg atc's.

you are right. publicising this sort of thing is exactly how they bring in mug punters. Lads'll already have hedged the risk, so more mug money is jam.

Still, I hope Red Merlin wins by 10 lengths and the good old boy celebrates until the wee hours of the morning drinking 4 bottles of scotch while doing so!!!

Go Red Merlin, Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

guys,
all treble or more bets (yankees, canadians etc) are inflated in all the legs but the last, by the computer program the bookies run..
for a good reason..

the bet looks like this
25-1 Laa rayb's inflated at 30% = 32.5/1
hence £ 8,125/ £ 250

onto 12-1 Genki inflated at 30% = 15.6/1
hence £ 130,650 / £8125+ £250

onto 12-1 Red Marlin deflated to 7.2/1
hence £1,000,000/ £139,025

the horse is 12/1 and the bookies can take £1,000,000/ £80,000 back in the market...which they have done

the bet now looks like this £1,000,000/ - £59,025

when the 1st leg won, the bookies made a book and won on the race..fav beaten
when the 2nd leg won, the bookies made o book and won on the race..fav beaten

so the bookies stand to win....should the horse win or loose..

a few years back, when standing upstairs at newmarket night racing...
some trainers wife, girlfriend...pretty thing!!!!!
asked for an all-to-come
all the clerks wanted to help...
worked out 625/1...with a 25 point stretch..
laid her R625K/R1k..
by the time the race was ready..the 1st leg shortned to 4/1...from 12/1..
I took the double the last 2, as I knew if this won, the others would go short..
put R8k on the double to cover 25% of my R625K bet..down R7k before the 1st leg jumped...all due to a pretty thing!!!!

1st leg ran 3rd...
she came back and put R10k on the double..
the 2nd leg opened short...my R8K had done the trick...
both won..
wish you could see her face.... glowing....

Red Merlin runs tomorrow. If I were holding that ticket I would be crapping myself and would not be able to sleep tonight
