KZN Pick6 a must this weekend - R5mil pool expected!
By Leon Setaro

This weekend we bid farewell to the 2009 Winter season here in KZN,
brought to a close by the Gold Cup day/night meeting on Saturday. A
hellishly tough program awaits punters and the exotics are sure to pay
handsomely, in particular the Pick6 which is swelled by R1.3mil in base
funds courtesy of the carryover last weekend. The pool is expected to
reach the R5mil mark and with a large piece of the action coming in from
the occasional and guesswork punter, this harvest is ripe for the
picking hell-yeah! Study form, plot lucky numbers, consult the bones, do
your thing whatever it may be and get your Pick6 on for the big one
tomorrow with Interbet.

Dylan Cunha with an impressive looking juvenile from his
stable

Whilst at Summerveld this week I caught up with trainer Dylan Cunha who
has expanded his training operation by securing 12 boxes in Cape Town.
Assistant trainer Candice Dawson now heads up the Cape string and the
services of veteran trainer Colin Lee have been employed to oversee the
KZN base. Dylan will commute between the two - all the best to everyone
concerned with the venture.

Strategic News back in SA

Dylan's Summer Cup winner Strategic News has returned from his Dubai
campaign, back at Summerveld now and working the home tracks once again.
He gives the Summer Cup a miss this year and instead will travel to Cape
Town with Gilmore Girl, Cameron's Kingmaker and Citizen Dante to join
Gold Game and the stable's unraced Australian imports already down
there.

Gilmore Girl fresh as daisies in the morning. She has filled
out in the last few months and will return to racing as a 4 year old
with plenty still to come.

Interbet gets regular queries on how to operate the website interface
and make full use of the exclusive trade features it provides. Here's a
quick run through of the key advantages and how to use them.

Interbet's central trading screen

Key features of Interbet's fixed-odds exchange.

Highlighted and enlarged here are the column headers where
trading info is displayed in realtime. You won't find the information
contained in these columns anywhere else but on Interbet.

The 'Odds' and 'Back' column display price information -
'Odds' represents the current market retail odds, and 'Back' represents
the odds available on Interbet (in black). The rand value (in red)
displays the liquidity/amount you can wager at those odds. The
percentages displayed in the column header represent the book margin or
Bookies' profit. 100% = a zero margin book, anything above this is the
layer's theoretical profit. Interbet book percentages are on average
half that of market retail - a formidable betting edge in anyone's book.

Interbet also has the facility for punters to request their
own odds beyond what is currently available on the system. To place a
request to match odds, simply click on the price available (in the
'back' column) and enter the odds you require along with the wager
amount. You bet request will now appear in the 'on request' column and
is visible to Bookmakers who are more than likely to match a reasonable
stretch request of a point or two. Bear in mind that Interbet's prices
are already 30 - 100% better than market retail so the extra stretch is
a bonus on top of an already generous wholesale offering.

The 'Profit' and 'CB' columns work together and track your
personal wager information per event. A bookmaker's calculator is built
in here and the 'Profit' column shows your profit/loss scenario for each
horse. This is how the Bookmakers balance their books and it's a vital
tool for taking cover bets and/or backing more than one runner in a
race. No handheld calculator required because Interbet's software takes
care of all the maths behind the multiple selections. The 'CB' column
displays the traditional 'bookmaker's ticket' info - how much you stand
to win vs. how much you've wagered on each horse in the said event.

The 'Vol' column shows the turnover in rands for each horse as
it happens. Don't be fooled by the Bookies shortening prices on a whim
old school style, watch this column and see exactly where the real money
goes - rand for bleeding rand. By clicking on the trade/vol amount, a
window will pop up displaying a breakdown of odds and turnover on the
selected runner.

The 'Last' column displays the most recent price matched on
the Interbet system.

Fixed-odds place bets are also catered for and the 'best
place' column displays the prices available without actually linking
into the place bets page. 'B' represents the price available, 'L'
represents a price on request (where applicable). To wager a fixed odds
place bet you must first click on the 'show places' button situated
directly about the 'best place' column; this toggles between the win bet
and place bet trading pages.

Tote betting with Interbet
Earlier this year Interbet secured a TAB agency license and now punters
have the added convenience of being able to bet direct with the
Phumelela/Gold Circle Tote, as well access the best fixed odds available
in SA - all from one betting account! Click on the (solid black) TOTE
button located on the top left hand side of the betting screen to go
direct to Tote betting and use the funds in your Interbet account.

Tote betting with Interbet offers single click access to the
Saftote pre-race dividend screen so you can keep tabs on Tote will-pays
across all bets. Just click on the 'saftote information' button
(pictured) and the display window will pop up before you can say
saftote.com

Interbet's online Tote agency software also includes a bet
cost calculator - Add in the amount you would like to spend on your
permutation, pick and choose your runners and the software will
calculate in realtime what percentage your wager buys you, as well as
the number of combinations involved in the permutation. Perfect for
calculating complicated exotic and quartet bet costs, this saves you
from the need to keep sending through a bet enquiry every time you make
a selection change and need to know how it effects the overall cost.
TIP. If you want to keep a separate trading screen open for Tote and
Bookmaker betting on Interbet, simply open another browser window
and login to Interbet as per usual and you'll have two sessions open,
one for Bookies and one for the Tote.

Good luck and may the Pick 6 be with you.

Very difficult pick 6, would guess that vacherin and river jetez are the possible bankers, if they both get beat another carry over?
