Gold Cup v Bok Game

The crowds at the Gold Cup have for a long time been down and this weekend will likely see another huge decrease with the Boks playing in Durban. With Gold Circle having to move the July next year to the last Sat of July due to the World Cup surely they should have thought about moving the Gold Cup to next weekend?

I have heard that the Rugby is almost a sell out so thats around 50000 people at the game.

Well thats just my thought

Rugby vs horseracing: rugby will hands down in THIS country... There is not an even spread of sport following in this country, either rugby or cricket, period.
They should have moved it in order to gain a little more spectator ettendance but life is tough. We'll still not get a great following either way.
The real question is: should racing bow down to other sports been played on the same day? I think not. If you cant beat them join them. Use it to our advantage.

Make it possible to enjoy the rugby and the racing at one venue. Not all can fit into a stadium.... The race venue should offer a big screen to watch the game. Advertise, advertise, advertise and advertise!
Little things like that could be the difference... I know its capital, but you have to spend some times in order to make money.

To get people to the track is going to a real big challenge but not impossible.
Horse racing in this country has been in the boot since I've realized it existed. Youth is the key. We got extremely wealthy players in this game and i'm sure their influence amongst other heirachy people in SA can be of influence.

What about a small competition, and advertise this in the media, where say 4(arbitary number) people, and I hope young people, can get to win each 25% shares in a horse that these big players can sponsor. The winnings can go straight into a horse and a small percentage to the owners. Its a small price to pay to get the big ball rolling.
Imagine this horse was JJ which no one wanted and it was sponsered to to these lucky winners. Imagine the hype around this? i mean you affecting 4 strangers to the game with something great as this. This excitemnet and participation would srpead like a wild fire amongst those not in the game just through hearsay from these owners.
This pilot project is something that If i had the capital would love to start but I'm also starting my career and so it cannot be... But I have the idea and if we could run with it, what a thing it will be!

This is how i firmly believe racing, not only for the punter but your normal horse lover, will prosper!
