Scotia after the July.
15 years 11 months agoHope you all survived the social activities over the July weekend, mine was a very stressful build up, with having computer problems over a period of 3 days.
In addition not in good health due to my life style, given a choice to change or die, and considered the easy way out, but changed my mind and went to a gym "Virgin Active", strange name, but very state of the art computers/plasma/monitors etc, a big change from my tossing the caber days.
The chap met me at the door, had one look and says R875 for life membership, he probably recons I wont last a month.
He asked many questions, do you smoke? do you take a drink? to which I replied, "didn't know you were licensed", must say my heart sank when I seen no optics behind the coffee bar.
To cut a long story short, I can either become taller 8 foot 3 ins, or lose 33 kilos, so should take a couple of weeks and then I can get back to normal.
Plenty comments with regards the July, so enough said, and the Tennis was a cracker, the Lions had a well deserved victory.
I am sure we can now look forward to the Gold Cup, what about some early betting and ante-post markets on local racing, to spark some enthusiasm, I am sure if none of the bookies want to take the initiative, Interbet can just load the fields and let the punters make requests, if you consider that's all Betfair do? Why should we be different.
On the overseas racing, a good second for Asiatic Boy and wasn't Sea The Stars impressive again in the Coral Eclipse, was disappointed in the lack of knowledge by Telly"cramped" before this race, if we want to be global and enter into joint venture with overseas racing partners, we have to show professionalism, stop concentrating on Sweden, Ngong, etc, tote pools and give the punters some constructive input rather than just number selections and tote payouts, incidentally what ever happened to a horses S.P.?
As far as ante-post overseas, we are focusing mostly on horses with the Tennis, Soccer and Rugby behind us.
The Arc on the 4th of October is always a great race, but hard to guess the final field, but Fame or Glory, Stacelita or Sea the Stars likely to top the boards.
Ascot 25th July is the KGVI and QE stakes, where Conduit can end up fav, also considering Sea the Stars avoids.
The big race this Saturday will be the July Cup where Scenic Blast remains a strong fav at 14/10, Art Connoisseur 6/1 and JJ has moved into single figures, and why not?
Lastly the Breeders Cup meeting on the 7th of November could be mind boggling? Zenyatta, Rachel Alexandra, Mine that Bird, Sea the Stars, Mastercraftsman, Rip Van Winkle????
We had a great July Day competition and well done to Greg and Wise and thanks again to Hollywood and FSC for the sponsored prizes.
Have to fly, I have my personal trainer waiting, sounds strange, normally have a personal barman.
Good punting and may your God be with you.

Yes I did notice the "treadmill", considering the 33 kilos, had my legs weight seperate and only 27 kg, so would have to throw an arm in? in addition would make me even shorter and probably the 33 kilos would increase?
So the treadmill it is, hope they dont have a power cut as it looks difficult to operate manually.

An alternative to the treadmill Dave.
Hire a young nubile lady ( there are lots at the gym) to meet you outside your gate early in the morning and late in the evening. She gets 5 seconds start and if you can catch her you can have your way with her. Guaranteed you will lose 5 kgs the first week. Second week you start to wise up so she runs after you with a pair of nutcrackers. If she catches you then you are in trouble.
What do you think apart from "physician, heal thyself".
