Important July Information
15 years 11 months agoEARLY CLOSING TIME
Resulting from recommendations of a variety of safety and security role players because of the difficulty of adequately policing such a large property, particularly at night and based on the success of closing early in 2007 and 2008 it has again been decided to rein festivities in early at the Vodacom Durban July.
The closing down process will begin at 22h00 and will be under the management of Event Security and the South African Police.
Members of the race-going public are requested to respect these efforts to protect their safety and are asked to comply with the above arrangements.
GET INTO POSITION EARLY
In the interests of safety the tunnel under the racetrack near the winning post will be closed from 15:55 for ONE hour. Please move to your selected viewing position for the main race well before 15:55 and do not attempt to cross the racetrack unless it is at one of the alternative track crossings provided.
BEAT THE QUEUES
Activity at Greyville Racecourse on July 4 is going to be hectic and those planning to attend Africa’s Greatest Racing and Social Event need to plan ahead to ensure they are not caught up in the rush.
Entrance tickets to Greyville, at a cost of R170 each, and parking tickets on the Royal Durban Golf Course costing R50, are now on sale and available from the Gold Circle Offices at Greyville and certain tabGOLD outlets in the city. Parking ticket sales stop at 16h00 on Friday 3 July but grandstand entrance tickets will still be on sale on raceday.
To ensure efficient access to the parking area, racegoers should comply with directions and instructions issued by the police, security officials and parking attendants. Simply put, holders of purchased parking tickets will access Greyville via DLI Avenue from the City side and Members will access through the gate over the road from the Bowling Club. The smoother the flow the quicker patrons will be parked and headed for their chosen venues.
No matter where they park patrons are asked not to leave valuables in view in their vehicles but to lock them away.
