I am sure this is good news to many after reading the frustrations with placing bets via the current tote facilities?
Rob Faux comes to mind?
enjoy!

Scotia,are they straight in(ie bypass the crappy site we use) or do they have to use the same site and this is merely a variation of funding(ie all betting from 1 deposit)?
Perhaps one of the guys can tell us.....I'm wary of getting too exited, too soon!

Have spoken to Interbet.
This is a stand alone website so it does not go via the current tote site, however all bets are added to the pool, or lets say no "open bets", they get added to the tote pool.
No take out on winning bets, you collect what the tote pays.

if it is similar to other commingle deals P will be paying them a share of the take out, so interbet's punters will probably not have additional charges to the punter. but best check the website terms and conditions.

Interbet has to be commended on this latest innovation. It appears that they are simply allowing players to access two different betting forms off one platform. I assume they are being treated as an agency by Saftote in much the same way as any other retail outlet would be as I see no evidence of any additional charges being levied.
Personally this ensures that I am now occasionally having a tote bet - something which I have not done for many years. I have already tried a few exactas and (unsuccessful ) quartets in races where I was battling to identify a potential winner. This can only be good for funding the game.
One hopes that turnovers will rise to the point where they can address three major flaws in betting on the site ;
1.) The transactions costs are unnecessarily high. My experience is that it costs a total of 8,14% per winning bet to use this site. This is made up of a 6% betting tax to which one must add the 2% transaction cost PLUS Vat = 8,14%. (Like most 'good old' South African businesses these costs are not exactly trumpeted in 14 point type - you have to examine the deductions on your winning bets to evaluate the full scope of the damage).
What I find particularly irksome is that this charge applies irrespective as to the size of the bet. So although paying 2,14% on a winning bet of R1,000 may be acceptable I find the rand cost on,say, a R10,000 winning bet outrageous. What,pray, do they do to justify a R200 ( VAT exclusive ) fee that they do not also do on a small bet?
These charges tend to somewhat negate the much vaunted 'better odds' that they continually refer to. The odds HAVE TO be higher to offset the higher cost of betting through this site.
2.) We are overdue for a system where we only pay on 'nett winning position'. Again - where one backs a horse and then covers on one or more the betting tax and transaction fees force one to inflate bets markedly to cover these expenses.
3.) Transaction costs again make it unattractive ( and uneconomical! ) to bet on sports such as individual rugby and cricket matches.
Despite vague promises to the contrary betting on international horseracing on this site can also be a 'hit and miss' exercise. Often particiapting bookmakers just WILL NOT lay the roughie of your choice. The cynicism goes further - if you are stupid enough to put in a request AT THE PRICE and you will more often than not be offered a price as low as HALF the advertised price.
Nevertheless - the Tote move is a goodie for which they must be congratulated.
