Race 7. 15h30 : SUNDAY TRIBUNE UMZIMKHULU STAKES (Grade 3) : R150 000 : 1400m : REF. 716 :
Off at : 15h41 Loading Time : 1:05 Starter : P Hepworth
No. of runners : 12
The Starter Reported: NIGHTSTALKER, ROCK CONCERT and SUMMER SAMBA : Slow into stride.
The Stipendiary Stewards Reported (SA): ON HER TOES (A Marcus) : The winner. Selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Azzie advised (TN).
Apprentice K Teetan the rider of ROCK CONCERT was granted permission to hack this filly to the start with his feet out of the stirrup irons.
Due to the performance of SMANGALISO (C Orffer) (16.50 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
Jockey G Cheyne the rider of KUSHONI LANGA (AUS) (9.50 lengths) reported this filly took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
At approximately the 700 metre mark ROCK CONCERT (*K Teetan) hanging in, difficult to assist, shifted in making contact with ISABELLA’S PRINCESS (*D Mansour). Thereafter at approximately the 550 metre mark, ROCK CONCERT (*K Teetan) shifted in again making contact with ISABELLA’S PRINCESS (*D Mansour) who is hampered for a number of strides. This resulted in ASIAN AFFAIR (B Fayd’Herbe) who was racing behind ISABELLA’S PRINCESS (*D Mansour) having to ease momentarily losing position.
At approximately the 250 metre mark COCOA BEACH (R Fourie) shifted in slightly brushing HI CAT (AUS) (M J Byleveld) resulting in COCOA BEACH (R Fourie) becoming unbalanced.
At approximately the 150 metre mark ON HER TOES (A Marcus) hanging in, shifted in carrying LOUPE (A Delpech) inwards and off a straight course for a number of strides. This inward movement results in COCOA BEACH (R Fourie) being carried inwards in the latter stages.
A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward and followed by a review by Jockey A Delpech. After reviewing the patrol videos from the various angles, having regard to the distances, the Stipendiary Steward and Jockey A Delpech decided to take no further action.
Jockey, Equipment and Race Card Changes: ISABELLA’S PRINCESS : Raced without blinkers. (Change done on the 17.04.09 at 09h02)
Jockey B Fayd’Herbe replaced Jockey S Cormack on ASIAN AFFAIR. Jockey B Fayd’Herbe weighed out at 58.5kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 58kg.
