Dettori suffers double Listed woe in Rome
FRANKIE DETTORI picked up a winning spare ride at the Capannelle in Rome on Sunday but drew a blank in the afternoon's two Listed races.
More disappointing of the pair was My Sweet Baby, a half-sister to the Dubai Duty Free winner, Gladiatorus, who was sent off a long odds-on chance for the Premio Torricola.
However, she trailed home in sixth, beaten nine lengths by the 97-10 shot Aria di Festa, a daughter of Orpen trained by Bruno Grizzetti.
This completed a big-race double for Grizzetti as he also saddled Gimmy (1.27-1) to beat Dettori's mount, Permesso, by two lengths in the Premio Circo Massimo.
Dettori later landed a supporting event on Louise Aron.

Good to know that it's not only our odds on favs that keep getting turned over every five minutes. There could be a lesson heire for those cynics who jump to the easy conclusion that getting rid of bookies will solve this...Italy, like France, is a Tote monopoly.

Mathew,
come on now be nice. We dont want to eradicate bookmakers off the face of the earth because odds on shots get beaten. We want this vermon removed because they
bet to 140%
contribute f all to racing in terms of finance
dont allow you to win as much as you can lose
manipulate prices to create false markets
advertise that they have the "best odds on offer" yet Betfair are consistently better
Pretend to care for racing yet as soon as the product becomes too expensive they start showing cartoon racing

Since when is 'cartoon' racing the bookies' fault? Every form of gambling 'allows' the player to lose more than he can win. It's how it works, by definition. Where do you suppose the winners' winnings come from? The tooth fairy?

Mathew,
of course when there are winners there have to be losers. But can you honestly tell me that you can advise someone to back a horse (as you do ) and by default they can only back it at 5/1 when there is 7/1 available on betfair? Surely you want your clients to maximise their profit.
