William Hill online deal raises Gibraltar move


AROUND 80 William Hill office-based staff working for the internet division are being offered the choice of relocation, mainly to Gibraltar, or redundancy, as the betting operator restructures its online service, following last October’s creation of a joint venture with leading international software provider Playtech.



Implementation of the arrangement with Playtech, to create William Hill Online, has had a consequence for staff, mainly employed in Leeds and Sheffield.



Hills’ spokesman David Hood said on Wednesday: “In total, about 80 roles are affected by the restructuring of the online business, but I must stress these do not all involve redundancies."


He also scotched local suggestions that the Sheffield call centre, which covers customer services, was being closed
