Well here's one for your handicap fundi's.

In Race 4 at Turf on Sunday we have am MR 72 handicap; top rated horse in the race has an MR of 76 and thus has to carry 62 kg's - quite correct in my opinion.

In Race 7 we have another MR 72 handicap; again the top rated horse has a MR of 76, BUT ONLY CARRIES 60 kg's; thus making it an MR 76 handicap - which should be worth more than a MR 72? Or alternatively all weights should have been raised by 2kg's, which may or may not have influenced some jockey arrangements for the race. I am not sure if Mr Whitmore can make 52.5, if not he is going to put up overweight, which would not have been the case had all weights been raised by 2 kg's.

Surely this is inconsistent at the least?

After a phone call to the relevant authorities, the prize money for Race 7 was indeed increased from R68 000 to R75 000

WOW an extra R4,500 for winning connections - well done!

Yip, R4500 difference for the winner, a month's keep paid for which would have had to come out of the owner's pockets if not corrected.
