Doctor My Eyes
Good morning all,
The Easter weekend is behind us — hope you had a peaceful and enjoyable break.
There remain difficult times globally, with ongoing concerns in the Middle East.
The past 24 hours have also been tense on the political front, but thankfully a ceasefire is now in place.
We just hope that Donald "one flew over the cuckoos nest " Trump takes his tablets .
On a personal note, my health remains a concern. My eye continues to affect my balance, which has been frustrating. That said, I’m looking forward to my upcoming UK trip — and it seems “Storm Dave” has at least broken the ice ahead of my arrival.
On the football front, Hearts suffered a setback at Livingston, dropping two valuable points. It keeps things tight at the top, with both Rangers and Celtic securing wins. I’m hoping to be in Edinburgh should there be a victory parade.
It brings back memories — my uncle taking me to Tynecastle when I was around 10, which was around the last time the Jambos won the league. Under Tommy Walker, with the famous trio of Wardhaugh, Bauld and Conn, alongside greats like Dave Mackay and Willie Cummings — a special era, and if memory serves, achieved with a record goal difference.
Back home, Champions Day at Turffontein was a fantastic spectacle — and there’s plenty more quality racing ahead.
This weekend brings the Grand National. Never an easy race to solve, but I Am Maximus should go close, while High Class Hero could be worth an each-way shout at a big price. It’s a strong Aintree card overall — Salvador Mundi looks a solid play, and Wodhooh should take the Hurdle.
The more I look at it, the more I think See It Again has a serious chance in the July.
Ka Ying Rising continues his winning ways and looks set to make it 20 wins from last 20 runs on Champions Day and then an overseas stint ?
We’ll likely head back to Pretoria over the weekend after a wonderful stay in Hillcrest.
Mad Max is still holding on as we await the family’s return.
The doctor hasn’t been able to do much for my eye, but here’s a fitting track to go with it.
Good punting 👍
