TURFFONTEIN/"NOW VAAL" IMPORTANT NOTICE
4 weeks 9 hours ago - 3 weeks 6 days ago
In connection with racing on Saturday
Important Notice:
Robinson Landfill Fire Affecting Turffontein Area
Please be advised that the Robinson Landfill site, located across from Turffontein Racecourse, is currently on fire.
The blaze is producing significant smoke, which is impacting the surrounding area.
Emergency services are on site and actively working to contain the fire, but current indications are that it may take several days to fully extinguish.
Given the severity of the situation, a decision will be made tomorrow morning regarding the relocation of the Turffontein race meeting.
At this stage, it is highly likely that the meeting will be moved to the Vaal Classic Track.
It is also important to note that field sizes for this meeting are already small.
Any additional scratchings due to the venue change may jeopardise the entire meeting.
Further communication and confirmation will be issued by 8:00 AM tomorrow.

.....this is tragic....trading a smelly dump for a toxin emitting smoldering mess.....that dump was supposed to have been capped and sealed in 2000 as it is the oldest landfill in Johannesburg area it was first opened in 1933.....fires on these sites are problematic as not only is the fuel source largely combustible but the production of methane gas from decaying sub surface will feed flames and further combustion....the fire can only be smothered by capping the dump with soil....Joburg Metro is broke.... cant fill a pothole.....oh my

.....it would seem that the original dump site was capped and rehabilitated many moons ago.....however since then it may have been covertly(without public participation)) extended in a north westerly direction hence that terrible smell and now a fire.....this extension is also now at the end of its life span but the Metro have been trying to cram much more waist into the site and have not kept up with back filling and reducing the exposed larger surface area....but it not over for the dump site yet as even more property to the west bordering Booysens Road is now earmarked for further dumping.....oh no

Good day guys...and gals😁
I am gonna do a Sectional Analysis of upcoming meetings as time goes by. I dont have the time to review full meetings. So instead will, for each *GAUTENG CARD* i will post a few horses to use for the day for whom ST makes a strong case for.
*FIRE IN HER SOUL*
My notes say: She will win her next start by atleast 3L(if its over 1400m+) but she ran an impressive Last 400m lto of a very slow pace and should be to good today. Her STRIDE LENGTH(SL) inceeased in the final furlong proving she will just get better with distance
*PALACE REVOLT*
Very IMPRESSIVE L400M lto in a race with a Good Pace...Indicating that the step up in trip is well suited...hard nut to beat
*LAUGHING WILLIAM*
He should leadthis race and judging by hus last 2 races over 8 furlongs...He will stay on strongly the last 150m. He has shown tremendous SL from 600m - 400m before tiring late on...This is a real LS on the day...especially if the track runs fast today
*SLINKY MAPIMPI*
Won very well after a rest and stayed on strongly after setting a very fast pace. Gets a 3kg drop in weight...The way he only shortened his stride the Last 80m in his last effort suggests they will have a hard time to catch him today.
I dont know how the change of track will affect them since most of these looks better at Turfries...but nontheless...They should all go well
DURBANVILLE
R9- WORLD WARRIOR
R4- WANDER DUNE
R3- DELTA PRIDE
R2- HAZEL GREEN
NOT Gonna eloborate on these but all has shown Good Sectional efforts at Kenilworth recently.
