BRENTS BANKER'S

Hi All,

First up sorry this is coming out so late but with so much rugby on the go this weekend I had plenty of homework to do (and yes I am delighted not to have to make another soccer bet after last weeks Sundowns debacle)

I actually had pretty fixed ideas of where my money was going to go but when I read Gavin Bates Sportingweb previews this morning he has done totally the opposite to what I was planning. As usual he makes a strong case for his selections and I have spent much of the day soul searching and surfing rugby websites looking for information that would give me confidence to follow my original thoughts.

The time has come for a decision and in a surprise move I am going to go for a double this weekend as my best bet.

Brent’s Banker

5 units Scotland +22.5 and Italy +18.5 at 2.42/1 with Betting World

The handicap of 22.5 looks a bit big in the New Zealand game in my opinion especially given such an experienced loose forward combination. Make no mistake I expect the Kiwi’s to win but I am hopeful that it will be closer to the 12-15 point mark and I am counting on the visitors missing a few kicks with Carter on the bench while Paterson I hope will continue in the form he has shown over the last 24 months or so.

I think Italy can make life tough for what looks a slightly under strength Aussie side and while a huge upset would be a surprise I think their pack can keep the ball for long periods perhaps forcing a few penalties to keep them in touch with the Wallabies.

Value Bet
Ok so I can expect some serious abuse on this one but I give Wales a real chance of beating the Boks this weekend. They were outclassed back in June but were missing key players and perhaps more importantly Peter de Villiers influence had not really been stamped on the team. It is certainly there now though and the move of Smit to tight head smacks to me like he lacks the bottle to drop his captain. I also have concerns about Pienaar’s place kicking under pressure. If the Wales stay in touch early they will be hard to snuff out in front of a packed Millennium Stadium.

2 units Wales to beat the Boks at 2.45/1 at World of Sport

By the way I am really looking forward to catching the England Pacific Islanders game and if the Islanders tight five can secure some ball it is game on. The expected rain will not suit them though and that may see me hold back on a handicap strike at around +19.5.

I hope you will join Garth and I for tomorrow mornings radio show at 07h30 (Channel 169 DSTV Audio or 1485AM if in Joburg) where Neil Andrews will be joining us on the line to discuss all of the latest betting and hopefully point out some value. And yes we will talk some soccer but in the mean time check out Sportingweb’s Premier league and Telkom Knockout bets on www.sportingweb.co.za
By the way Neil’s show BETTING WORLD usually airs around 21h00 on a Friday night.

Have a good one

Hi there,

It was not me who removed it but it could have been - first 2 legs arrived but local soccer let me down when 4/10 shots Sundowns got beat in the 3rd leg.

Those on my mailing list (which is where Scotia gets the post) will know that I am not exactly in sparkling form at the moment but as with all punters I can feel that good times are just around the corner.

Hopefully we can find a few winners on our radio show this morning. 07h30 Ch 169 DSTV Audio for those up early.

Good punting to all

Brent

Aussies not a great bet in my opinion, will be a tight game, Italy could even shock?

I actually took some 8/1 Italy and they threatened but Aussies were the better side.

Cats in my opinion Wales had every chance to win - I would stop short of calling them unlucky but they gave a run for the money at the price and but for that knock on which was well picked up by the ref - who knows?.

Now holding thumbs the Scots can stay in touch

Took -17.5 AB's at 1/1 to cover stake on double - hoping for NZ by 18,19,20,21 or 22 to collect on both. Scots looking poor though
