America and Horses 🐎

Good morning all! Hope you enjoyed the US election coverage—let’s see if Donald can make America great again. I must say, I really enjoy listening to his speeches. 👋

This weekend feels like a bit of an anti-climax after the excitement of the El Romiachi trip, the Breeders' Cup, and the Melbourne Cup. But don’t worry, we still have some thrilling racing action on the way!

Weekend Racing:

El Romiachi runs again on Friday, and I’ll be putting my heart over my head with an each-way bet for his 101st run.

Oliver Twist and Happy Holly are potential punts for PE, so keep an eye on them.

Main Defender is racing at Turffontein in addition Cosmic Queen, Greaterix, Dyce and Almond Sea should make it a special day.
See It Again still tops the boards for the Betway Summer Cup after a fantastic return to racing—looking forward to the draw for that one!

We also have racing from Kenilworth and Ziets should make amends.

Rugby Action:

Some exciting rugby matches lined up this weekend:

Ireland vs New Zealand
Scotland vs South Africa
It’s rare for the All Blacks not to be favourites, but I reckon the bookies are being a bit harsh on Scotland with the points spread, especially considering the Springboks are the best team in the world at the moment.

I’m heading for a stable tour on Friday and will have more details to follow.

Champion mile looks to be the better race on the day some top horses entered.

Looking forward to seeing Greaterix over a mile . I believe he is the real deal . DYCE is a different horse since becoming 2 stone lighter and that's my double 

Don't think Main Defender will get the trip with that weight. Is a very open race with a lot looking to get into the big one. Thunee Playa is my roughie , out at the weights but I think he could sneak a place. 

Where do your loyalties lie with the rugby ? And Bob as well ??

I always support Scotland but could do with a few more points start on the handicap 😉

The Anthem is worth listening and should be a great atmosphere at Murrayfield.

I think taking odds-on about Greaterix is madness - might well win, but surely Wild at War after his last run (and getting 3kgs from Greaterix) is the right one at the odds ? Only caveat is that the Dawon stable seem out of sorts ....
And I see that it now is a 4-horse contest, Waheed (insufficient recovery time ?) and Destiny of FIre (injured ?) taken out ...

Agree with you there Dave , it is right up there with YNWA at Anfield !

I see your reasoning Frodo , however this horse is on the upgrade and think he will come home hard held.

I believe MDK left those other 2 in so that the race held up ??
