RACE 1
4 QUENTASIA 7 MADAME ZEE 2 AN AIR OF PRIDE 1 KYNISKA
Summary: Competitive maiden. QUENTASIA (4) has put in two good recent efforts on the poly and from a handy draw should make a bold bid. MADAME ZEE (7) is battling to shed her maiden but has been consistent of late and was close-up over course and distance last time out. She can go one better. AN AIR OF PRIDE (2) went walkabout in the betting last run but was not far back in first time blinkers. She could prove better on the poly over this shorter trip. KYNISKA (1) is another struggling maiden but has not been far back of late and has a good money chance. (Andrew Harrison: 4-7-2-1).
RACE 2
6 FUTURE FLO 1 HELSINKI 5 LAUDATO 4 HIAWATHA GOLDBERG
Summary: FUTURE FLO (6) switches to the poly but has some promising form on the turf. He steps up in trip but was narrowly beaten last run and can go one better. Stable companions HELSINKI (1) and HIAWATHA GOLDBERG (4) both showed marked improvement first up in the poly. Helsinki has been improving with each run and from the best of the draw should make a bold bid. LAUDATO (5) is lightly raced but showed up well going this trip for the first time. He too makes his poly debut but should be right there. (Andrew Harrison: 6-1-5-4).
RACE 3
6 PIXIE IN LOVE 5 DYMONDIA 9 WHEN EVENING COMES 2 NTOMBENHLE
Summary: PIXIE IN LOVE (6) has been struggling in the maidens but has been much improved at her last two when tried in a tongue-tie. He best recent effort has been on the poly. DYMONDIA (5) was only run out of it late when making her poly debut from a wide draw and the blinkers removed. The extra 100m will suit. WHEN EVENING COMES (9) jumps from a wide gate but has consistent form on this surface. Alyson Wright has stepped her up in trip and if she stays, she will be involved in the finish. NTOMBENHLE (2) goes well over course and distance and has Richard Fourie aboard. LAST GINGER (4) was due to race on Saturday. (Andrew Harrison: 6-5-9-2).
RACE 4
6 BANZAI PIPELINE 8 MASTER OF LAW 9 HEAD GARDENER 1 JUSTFORTHREEPENNY
Summary: Competitive handicap. BANZAI PIPELINE (6) is seldom far back of late and goes well over course and distance. He has been up against slightly stronger at recent starts and Richard Fourie takes over from the apprentice. MASTER OF LAW (8 ) steps up in trip but was touched off on the poly last time out. The extra should not be a problem. HEAD GARDENER (9) made sudden improvement with blinkers and a 4kg claimer up. He made most of the running that day and similar tactics could see him back up. JUSTFORTHREEPENNY (1) is always game. He steps up in class but has the best of the draw and a handy galloping weight. (Andrew Harrison: 6-8-9-1).
RACE 5
7 SHAKEN NOT STIRRED 1 INGAKARA 4 GIVERS GRACE 6 EAU DE VIE
Summary: SHAKEN NO STIRRED (7) has been knocking on the door for some time now. She found one too good for her last Wednesday but the step up in trip and the 4kg claiming apprentice up could see her go one better. INGAKARA (1) finished ahead of Shaken No Stirred when last they met, a neck between them. MJ Odendaal’s mare has enjoyed a drop in the handicap and from a good draw should run well again. GIVERS GRACE (4) has not been far back at recent outings in some fairly competitive company. The blinkers come off and with 1.5kg relief from the saddle one must fancy her chances. Stable companion EAU DE VIE (6) takes a big jump in trip but judged on pedigree this is probably what she is looking for. (Andrew Harrison: 7-1-4-6).
RACE 6
1 KINGSMEADS KRYSTAL 2 POPPY OF BAYEUX 7 QUANABI 3 FLOWER FESTIVAL
Summary: KINGSMEADS KRYSTAL (1) has dropped steadily in the handicap and now drops in class. She has the best of the draw over per preferred trip and should go close. POPPY OF BAYEUX (2) has been consistent over shorter but has been running on a little too late so the extra furlong and first time blinkers should make her competitive. QUANABI (7) won well over course and distance last run and that form has been franked which puts her into the picture along with FLOWER FESTIVAL (3) who is now 1.5kg better off with Quanabi for a length beating. (Andrew Harrison: 1-2-7-3).
RACE 7
6 KITTYBOYS GIRL 2 GELSOMNIA 3 ALITTLEBITNAUGHTY 1 BIRDWATCHER
Summary: Tough handicap. KITTYBOYS GIRL (6) was a close-up fourth last run and that form has worked out well. Down in class she should do well in this company. GELSOMNIA (2) is way better than her last run. She gets a five-pound relief from the handicapper and that could be enough to make her competitive again. ALITTLEBITNAUGHTY (3) made good improvement with a tongue-tie and pacifiers. She was taking on much stronger so got a six-pound rise in the handicap which could make things a little more difficult this time around. BIRDWATCHER (1) rarely misses a month when she does not race but caught the eye last time out and has a chance in this field. (Andrew Harrison: 6-2-3-1).
RACE 8
10 QUIZ MASTER 7 PHAKA IMALI 2 MAJORCA PALACE 3 DROGARATI
Summary: QUIZ MASTER (10) was run out of it late last start and the drop in trip could suit. PHAKA IMALI (7) needed his last run and should come on from that effort. MAJORCA PALACE (2) and DROGARATI (3) were separated by a neck when last they met and meet on the same terms. They have drawn alongside each other so there is little to choose between them. ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA (4) finished between the two but Nathan Kotzen’s charge could prove more effective over a furlong shorter. (Andrew Harrison: 10-7-2-3-4).
